Air Leak Near Weld On Hose Port

Recommended Posts

Just got my KM M3 Isis and low and behold there is a sizable air leak where the hose port was welded onto the hookah. Was just wondering what the best method of sealing this would be. Thanks in advance for any sound advice that arrives. And thanks for the bad advice I might receive as well.

Only thing I can think of is use some putty to seal the leak like JB Weld or something similar. IF you're good at soldering, you can try to fix it, but I only recommend that if you know EXACTLY what you're doing

if you think about it logically...there should not be air coming out of that even if its not fully welded.

the hookah creates a seal with your vase. the only way air can escape is through the hose port, or the purge valve. both of them are straight pipes...if youre leaking out of a weld, something else may be damaged

When I stop drawing smoke comes out of where the hose port was welded on. It appears that the hose port wasnt completely welded on. That makes logical sense to me lol

so the straight pipe isn't closed off somewhere...otherwise there should never be smoke around the hose port right?

Depends on the inside configuration. It is possible to have the port only leak since the hole in the bottom of the stem still connects to a much larger port opening. so there is room for smoke to leak out of a bad weld without there being any other porblems.. If that made any sense...

that would make it a common chamber no? it shouldn't be that case with the km.

Not necessarily..sorry im having troubles explining it properly..

but the hole in the bottom of the stem is a LOT smaller that the hole for the hose port right? So there has to be some place where the small hole opens into a larger port opening.

if im understanding this, you mean the area being pointed to by the red arrow is welded onto both the actual heart of the hookah, and also the tube leading down to the vase? and that weld can be shitty leaking both into the heart and outside?

excellent pic..

see i wonder if its really a pipe the whole way or if the hole opens into a small space before connecting to the port.

If the patch job works, then i guess it really doesn't matter in the long run. cool.gif
