Getting My Phunnel Have Some

Recommended Posts

i know most people suggests doing 3 rings on the foils, and for al fakher ive noticed it doesnt like 2 coals only 1..so if i where to do the 3 rings can i use 3 halves of charcoal 1 for each hole or should i stick with one charcoal and rotate from each ring to other ring? also when using a phunnel do you ever place the charcoal on foil where there is no holes or only on the holes?

As for the amount of coals you are going to have to specify what coals you are using. And as for the placement it does depend on your coals as well but the rule of thumb is that you place the coals on the are where the holes are present. All in all it is up to you to experiment and to discover what works best for you every case follows a general solution but still varies to some extent on your case.

how are you packing your phunnel? with af in a phunnel, at least 3 cocos are needed to get a good smoke. but are you using the 44mm 3kings or just the standard ones? try using 1 and a half coal.

charcoal goes on top of the holes.

For pretty much anything I use 3 rings of holes plus 1 hole over the very center (more out of personal preference than anything else). Take 3 ql halves, 4 if they are the small ones and go around the outside edge. I've always gotten good smoke wit this method. Best of luck.

Man I wish I could get away with using 1 or 2 coals per session. We almost always smoke with 4 cocos on the bowl. Good thing it's so tasty or it wouldn't be worth the $

4 cocos are you serious. I don't think i have put 3 on a phunnel unless it's a medium or nakhla.

I have an original large phunnel, i remember using 4 halves of 3K QLs back in the day. That thing was freaking huge though,i never finished a bowl. The Med. phunnel i have now i use 2 coco's for Tangiers or AF, but when i smoke starbuzz it needs 3. I've never used 4 though, thats A LOT of heat.

thanx guys..its the 33mm 3 kings..i will make 3 halves and put one on each circle pattern and see how it goes..

I think you are doing the pattern wrong because you should not be able to put a half over each circle. What that suggests to me is that you have 3 little circles in an overall triangle shape like:

0
0 0

When people say rings, they mean a circle of holes the entire way around the bowl.
