I pushed too hard to get it on the grommet. DAMNITTTTT!!Has this happened to anyone else? Anyways, I need a new bowl. Any suggestions? I was thinking the ceramic ones over at social, but they only come in two colors now.

hah, that's happened to me like 3 times.  tangiers' bowls are fired so that they're more resilient supposedly.  if you can't wait long enough to get a new one, you can try wrapping the bowl in tape temporarily.  it's kinda tough, and unreliable, but i've done it before.

Reason #321434 to not mix hookah an alcohol..
One time I had had a few too many drinks and the crowd was clamoring for the hookah. I can't resist a good smoke or a clamoring crowd, so I proceeded to pack a bowl. Wouldn't you know just as I sat the bowl on the counter to get the foil, I knock the bowl onto my kitchen floor and clay pieces and a bowl full of esk. apple flies everywhere. It was a sad day in the land of Doug.

Yeah, I was wasted smoking hookah while lying in bed watching a movie. I went to ash the coal and missed the tray, now there's a spot of melted carpet. Not noticable unless you touch it. Last time I drink and smoke hookah.hey i just found more bowl pieces a few feet away... damn that shattered pretty good.

I've done this a couple times when I used to use clay bowls. Now that I
think about it, it hasn't happened once yet to any of my ceramic bowls.
Maybe the glaze they put over the ceramic bowls makes them hold up
better.

If you want to be careful with your clay bowls, don't push the bowl
down from the top with your heand. Instead, grab the neck of the bowl
down at the bottom and push down/twist from there. This won't put
nearly as much pressure on the neck, and help prevent breaking. It
works for me.

Normally they break pushing down when they are slightly out-of-round. The cheap Egyptian standard bowls are good for this, as you can never find 2 that are the same. IF you get one than is slightly oval, when you mash down it puts too much pressure on the 2 areas that are touching the shaft, and: POP!! Then, there's the Shisha-Nazi issue. She's broken a couple of them (including my best smoker) cause she just has little accidents. You know, kinda klutzish

Tangiers, I saw you somewhere mention you make like 30 some colors of heads. What's the deal with that? It a custom thing?

Yeah when I used regular clay bowls and cracked off pieces from the
narrow neck area, I would put the piece back on, wrap a few layers of
ductape around the entire neck of the bowl, and use a lighter to melt
the ductape onto the bowl.

This is a quickfix idea that will work best if your bowls neck broke
into large pieces. Obviously if its in tiny shards, you're pretty much
screwed and need a new bowl.

Also Tangiers, quick qusetion. How much do your huge, 100g party bowls cost? I might be in the market for one in the future :)

Ahh nevermind, I found those bowls on hookahcompany. But I'm really
curious, can the large on actually hold up to 75-100 grams of tobacco?
Just from looking at the picture, it doesn't look like it can.

If its at all possible, do you think we can all get an action shot of
you loading your bowl, or atleast how large your bowl looks while on
your hookah?

Or does anyone have the jumbo size bowl and is able to post a picture?
I really want to buy one, but I'd like some closure first :)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can do this :)

It's all about those taqseem bowls, yash =) thanks for that post - both
me and my bro use them now. I don't think either of us could ever go
back to using foil...only way it gets too hot is if you don't pack it
or manage it well, but it takes much less management than foil!!

Anyway...why are the Tangiers bowls so freaking tall? I have one that's
pretty tall, but I don't think it matches the Tangiers ones...I got it
so that when I grabbed the bottom of the bowl to change it out, I
wouldn't burn myself since heat rises and all...you know, it didn't
seem to make much difference in my case, especially since it's a bit
tighter fit than the shorter regular ones I have...so ya gotta grip the
neck kinda tight and that just makes the contact more intense on your
hand...yeah.
The tall bowl is a bit wider, which is awesome to me when using foil
since if a part of the foil starts getting dark around the holes and
stinky, you can use the other parts of the bowl just fine, unlike those
really narrow bowls like what came with my MYA. If anything gets hot at
any part of the narrow mouth bowls you're screwed pretty much...so much
harder to salvage!

kinda off topic =)

Well I remember reading the description for Tangiers bowls, and the
main feature people seem to like them is because of the seven holes
inside the bowl, and also because of the long neck, its easier to grab
without burning your fingers (like you said).

The long neck sounds good to me, and I also like the idea of packing a
massive bowl and smoking with my friends for a solid 3 hours... I'd
probably only use it with a group though, as I don't want to be using
75-100 grams for one personal session :)

Sit down, my friends, I'll tell you a story. I was sick of crappy Middle Eastern bowls. An importer called Kishawi used to have this kickin bowls that I loved. I used the dimensions of that bowl to be the small. Using proper engineering and design, I extrapolated the dimensions for a medium and large bowl. I used white clay and bright colors which do number around thirty in variety. Before my bowls, you could get a bowl in any color you liked from the Middle East, as long as you wanted brown. Since then, many companies have copied my designs (taller), white clay and colors. Hookahcompany caries only mediums in a limited range of colors. The 100g jumbo is, well a freak of nature, not for sale. I may bring them around, but I'm working on three other projects, right now. Yeas, a large will hold aroung 80g of tobacco. I use a 100g bowl once a day, sometimes twice. I will do custom orders, $10+S&H. They are taller for a valid fluid mechanics reason, reducing turbulence through the venturi of where the hookah begins. They also, um, prevent you from burning your fingers. Also, if you look at the taper face of a middle-eastern bowl, it is "shallow" there's only 1/8-1/16 of an inch of face to contact the gasket. With a longer rise, we can make a longer taper (2-3"!) which allows the face, contacting the gasket to be closerto half an inch. I have done this cool experiment to show the advantages of this design, I take a hookah, loaded with water, put the bowl on in a normal fashion and lift the hookah by the bowl. It works, but don't try it at home. I won't guarantee it and I don't want to hear horror stories of your lovely crystal Mya jar shattered. I recommend, for those of you interested, to try one before you custom order them. I have 6 styles of heads currently available and the hookah company only carries "the grip". I also sell a low profile for those of you that think short bowls and venturi turbulence are OK. I also sell a tower style (even taller? Yes!) that are around 9" tall!.

I got my tang bowl in.....JESUS THIS THING IS GIGANTIC. And it's "medium sized!!the bowl is the almost the size of my palm and I have big hands. and like 5 inches tall. This thing can hold like 50g of tabacco or more....but I am the only one who smokes outa it, hopefully it'll still smoke good without filling it. Hell even trying to cover up the seven holes in the middle will use a lot of tobacco. do you guys want pictures?
