Blackcurrant tobacco

Recommended Posts

Does any brand make a blackcurrant flavor? I like Twinings blackcurrant tea (which uses an artificial flavor), blackcurrant preserves, and Guinness and black, so it sounds like it'd be a good flavor possibility.Tangiers, have you ever experimented with it? (Or actully make this flavor?)

God. Blackcurrent is horrible. It is the british Equivalent of grape- I think it is in the same family if i'm not mistaken. They add black currant to a pint of half lager/half cider- called a snake bite/diesel. tastes like cough syrup gone bad. One of the things I will not miss about the UK is black currant.  nasty nasty nasty.

Black currant is not actually a grape. Grapes and currants are not even in the same plant family. The misnamed Zante currant is actually a type of dried grape, but that's not what I'm referring to.Grapes are in the Vitaceae family (genus Vitis) and currants are in the Grossulariaceae family (genus Ribes).Wikipedia article on black currantPreserves made from black currant are great on scones with double Devon cream, and it's a good flavor in tea. I don't find that it tastes like grape really.I'm not British, nor have I ever set foot in the UK. I got my first exposure to black currant at a British-style pub here in the city I used to frequent about six years ago that served Guinness and black. They didn't have the currant stuff out where you could see it, but you could ask for it. I think it was mostly just British folks that came there were the only ones who ever ordered it. The bartender offered to have me try it one day, and it was quite good.

whilst they may not be in the same family- here in the UK I can only find Black currant soda, black currant gum, black currant drinks.. I think I have actually seen one bottle of grape juice.. Though grapes here are in abundance (Especially when one is sick apparently) Still- for the love of God- keep currants out of tobacco.  And especially, for all that is good and just in this world- keep it out of Guinness!

Ordered a batch of it yesterday from hookahcompany.com. While I was at it I picked up some Tangiers cinnamon as well to give it a shot. I'll have to review both of them when I get them. Having never smoked anything but Nakhla for years it'll probably be quite a shock.
