yay for windcovers!

Recommended Posts

i got my hands on a windcover lately (i thought i didn't need it, but
it was damn cheap), and today i tried it, just to see how it works - i
was smoking indoors so there wouldn't have been a lot of need for it, i
was just curious.
so i filled the bowl with Nakhla Mixed fruit - and this is the point
where it starts to get interesting. I - as most of the people - don't
like mixed fruit but i have a fair amount of it - i use it for testing
new methods or when i really don't care about what i smoke. So, 9 large
holes, 1 piece of 40mm 3Kings, windcover on - and the awesomeness has
begun. I really didn't expect anything from this shisha but it was so
damn tasty, it even surprised me. Trust me, i dislike Nakhla Mixed
Fruit just like you - but it was amazing this time. Thick smoke,
perfect heating, lot of taste, loooong session, and practically no
leftovers. I have to try it with some flavours i love ;)
do you have any similar experiences?

(side note - i also tried a grommet for the first time today, to fix
the hose to the stem - i cut out a piece from an ordinary grommet to
make it smaller and fit into the stem - worked pretty well.)

well, the windscreen can act to trap head and give you a better bakeing effect. More overall heat, better smokeing.
Though to make mixed fruit smokable is pretty amaizing.
The grommet could also make a little difference...less air being mixed with your smoke.

but i never had leak problems, the grommet just prevents the hose from slipping out...
dunno what caused it, but it was damn good. i may be wrong with the windcover thing, but i'm sure ill put it on next time too :D

Holy crap!
This makes me want to bust out my nakhla and give it all another round
(now that all of my 50g boxes are like a year old or so...). I never
really got much of a taste at all out of mixed fruit...with my taqseem
bowl (screen/wind cover) maybe I'll get better results?? Who knows. I'm
amazed that it tasted good to you....that really made me curious now...

Oh, same kind of thing with Layalina Orange...anybody ever try it? I'm
a big fan of their vanilla (but only in a clean hookah/hose since it's
kind of light..) and enjoy a few of their other flavors like black
grape...but the orange just really didn't smell or taste like much, and
was honey based, unlike their other stuffs....

uh, you always use a foil, unless you use a screen, or unless you smoke that horrid tombeik crap. a wind cover just kicks the temperature up a bit, and also protects the coal from being used up too fast for smoking outdoors, where a breeze will rob the heat away.

But he did say it was just for s(h)its and giggles. Just wanted to try it out.

I have a windcover that came with one of my hookahs, but I've never
ended up using it. I guess the fact that I RARELY ever smoke outside
could have something to do with it ;)

But yeah, I wanna see someone use the Chinese bowl with built in
windgaurd, AND a windcover on top of that. That should make for some
super insulated tobacco :)

yea ive found that the most use i get out of windercovers is not neccesarily to prevent wind...but to keep me from accidently blowing a coal off the head and ending up with an ugly carpet/rug burn ....that can really make a good session go bad quick....

yeah, I never smoke outside either...but I started using the wind cover
just to make the coals last longer...that, and less coals are needed
for me. where I'd normally start with 4 japanese squares to start and 3
to use, now I just use 2 to start and keep it going until they're
gone...everything's usually burned up by that time anyway so it works
out just fine for indoor usage.
