Damn i hate that it seems like there is some law forbidding "open/free coils" in sweden (EU?), takes like 15-20 minutes to fully light coconaras and cocobricos, i use a (excuse my limited english vocabolary) glas-heating-thingy where the coil is underneath a glas-board. Very ineffective and it doesnt feel especially safe, i believe the coals leaves minor marks after lots of uses + that ive heard someone say their glas got screwed up (which must be BS considering the coals temperature vs glas melting point but...) sad.gif

I have heard that the heat from the coals can make the glass tops shatter/crack. It doesn't have the reach the melting point for it to break. Keep thay in mind.

Thats very true, damn i will have to use my portable heating plate which is even a bit slower, better than destroying my parents stove though wallbash.gif

I light em about 4-minutes each side, until they are cherry red on a stove (gas - fire).

I'll get some pics up later, but I lift the side of the burner-tray Over a bit, so the coco's hang over the fire better.

Coco's take forever to light, so I start my hookah session by getting them going.

THEN I load the base, bowl, foil, etc.

Edit: seeing the discussion on the glass-stoves: I've never had success using them, but Coil-electric burners work great.

For portability (parties, or your parents house biggrin.gif) get one of these suckers, they work great (use it on the stove in case the flame topple the coal).

"Doubles" as a camp stove, muahahha.

i use a gas stove, witha a bit of practice, its pretty easy lighting these things on gas cookers. takes about 7 mins to fully light on all four sides. However, recently ive only started buring one side full and leaving the top side black, simply cos the coals give too much heat when fully lit and can burn my shisha. where as one side lit makes the coal last longer and a better smoke. Has anyone tried this?
