Z2G
Hey,I am having a hard time smoking Tangiers. Everyone reviews it to being the best out their and I have not been able to make it work. I have read all the post and also watched all the youtube videos which have helped but still no luck smoking it without it being harsh. I was wondering if anyone in the DFW area would be able to help me out so that I can expierence the same as everyone else. Thanks,-Christian

What kind of coals and bowl are you using?
Stuie
Christian, Scalli is hosting Hookahstock 3 in Fort Worth Feb 28th. I am up in Wichita Falls, and if you can make it there, I can show you first hand.Make sure it's acclimated though. And Pack a lot of tobacco in there. Capt. Morgan
As everyone has said make sure it acclimates. Stir the shisha really well before loading it into the bowl. I always pack it about 1/2 inch over the rim. When you put the foil on the bowl mash it down until you get an imprint of the hole in the phunnel bowl. Wrap the bowl as tightly as you can with the foil. I use a toothpick for the hole and push all the way through to the bottom of the bowl. I use three concentric rings for my pattern. Don't know what kind of coals you are using but you might consider taking one of once the bowl is smoking well. Sometimes it will start out slightly harsh but will get better. soldier92
What I found is that not only packing the bowl but heat management is a huge must with Tangiers. I started out packing the bowl like the tutorials but I hadn't read about managing heat so I had to much coal on there. Read up on how much coal you should use and that might be the problem, or at least it was for me.Don't give up, half the fun of hookah is the trials and tribulations. Z2G
Thanks everyone for their quick reply. It has been aclimating since I have gotten it. I use a tangiers funnel and Cocos. Stuie, Yeah just let me know where and what time it is and I will be their... Also, let me know what flavors you would like me to bring and I will get them know and start acclimating them. They will be ready for the DFW event. Thanks,-Christian
shalowlow
LOL....I looked up Dfw because I saw it twice one after the other on the boards and decided that it couldn't be Dallas/Fort Worth. I guessed that it meant Doesn't freaking work....I guessed wrong, but at least now i know!Anyway, I would say what changed for me is putting in A LOT of holes....and realizing that there will be a little tinge from the nicotine at first, (its probably the most nicotine you've inhaled at the same time) so your throat is like, what the heck is that? But definetely make enough holes for some air flow....the smoke will not suffer at all because you'll be able to take more in.

Scalliwag
Hey Christian, Like Stuie said if you come out to HSIII we can show you. It has been over a year since I've smoked any Tangs because it kicks my butt too quick (did Eric ever make a washed version yet?) but I can sure get a bowl going pretty damn good for you and others. I can take a few hits over the course of an hour so I don't get too slammed from it.
