Flipztarrr
Hey guys,I found a phone today, its a BlackBerry Curve 8330 for Verizon. I want to sell it, so im probably goingto use craigslist. I was wondering, would my buyer be able to activate the phone under his/her nameonce the original owner gets the phone disconnected? Ive read somewhere about an "esn" number...it is the electronic serial number. Would that affect phone? Basically what im asking is can Verizondisable the phone so that no one can use it? or not? The phones pretty much brand new. So ifanyone is interested, let me know. Thanks. Edited February 4, 2009 by Flipztarrr
Oggie505
I woudl turn it into Verizon, the ESN number is more than likely registered and if one tries to activate it then the person or seller can be charged with a crime. Not saying it will happen, but an ESN number will more than likely be locked out from reactivation. It is best to turnit into Verizon, just because you found it does not mean it is yours. popcornkid06
yeah.. my friend lost her phone a while ago and whoever found it turned it in to a verizon store and they mailed it back to her. that would be the cool thing to do, dude.
MeHT
I'd return it. If it's not blocked, try calling someone from the phonebook (like family). It's all about Karma, man!
Pilgrim
Yes they can block it so no one can send or call anymore. Best thing is return it to verizon
fineout
i say look for a number like "home" or "mom" or something and ask them if they would like the phone returned, im sure karma will be great for you if so.
TheScotsman
Not returning it, or at least making a best effort would not only be illegal, but just down right ass-hattery is the biggest way.If it was insured, and replaced already it is really Verizon property. Besides, if positioning is turned on, and you powered it up, they know where it is already.
Canon
Its not a finders keepers world. thats not your phone, you didnt buy it someone just misplaced it. dont sell it, dont use it (other than trying to find the original owner). turn it in or give it back somehow and feel good about yourself.
