Bye bye now have fun
if it is usp grade its the same thing as "cooking" except it might be more pure. if you dont believe me read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Pharmacopoeia
thehelios
If this becomes the "official" glycerin thread, just note: DO NOT BUY GLYCERIN FROM A COSMETICS AISLE!!! Stuff is reported to taste like soap, and I don't think anyone wants soap flavored tobacco.

As a kicker, it was amongst beauty products. The ONLY reason I know it was food grade was the kosher symbol on there.QUOTE (Scoop @ Feb 4 2009, 12:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>there is glycerin made from vegetable fat and one made from animal fat though hehWait, so you're saying I can start smoking cow? Bye bye now have fun
personally i wouldnt get anything that wasnt at least 99.5% pure and usp because like ethanol you get pureify it past a point but have to use benzene to do so, thus unsafe after 191 proof. im not sure if its the same for glycerin but i want as close to 100% pure as possible. also helos its made from hydrocarbon chains, so it doesnt matter if its using plantmatter or animal fat it all ends the same. the only thing that might matter is for religious people that dont realize that all chemicals are the same no matter where they started. You can have pure literal 100% orange juice and add tons of chemicals and additives and it still be called "orange juice".This is my problem with glycerin in a cosmetics aisle. The glycerin comes from plants or animals. The problem is once they have that glycerin, they may start adding other stuff to it to scent it, color it, thicken it, etc. but in the end the product is still labeled as glycerin. So I am adding as a TIP: Unless it mentions food grade or anything referring to food grade, or it is found in a cosmetics aisle w/o food grade label, don't buy it. The ADDITIVES in it will make your tobacco taste like soap.

ElijahSing
Well the thing to watch out for is that there is some glycerin that is used for making soap and some of it already has some scent added to it, with a minor taste. so, that makes sense, make sure its jsut plain old Glycerin.. most places like Michaels and craft stores will sell it, its used in restoring cake icings and such alot of the time.
