Matt-641
Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not really to hookahs. Anyway, I have a small-medium sized cheap hookah my friend gave me that I've had for a couple of years now and it's deinfatly seen better days. I am thinking about either: a ) replacing everything except the base (the only thing on it that is in really good condition). The hose is too short and missing the mouthpiece, the tray is too small for my liking (afraid the coals/ash will fall over the table and floor), the rubber on the bottom of the stem is comming apart, the bowl isn't real sturdy on top of the hookah b/c the rubber piece undernieth it isn't the right one .or B ) just buy a whole new hookah from hookahshisha.com or some other site.I primarily just smoke this every once in a while by myself and go to friends' houses to smoke socially. So I don't need one that's very big, just one that is one hose and smokes good.any suggestions? Edited February 5, 2009 by Matt-
inino
well if you arent new to hookah then i suggest just buying a new one. hookahcompany.com is my site of choice, but there are a few other good sites. from the way you described how you smoke, i would get a mya. they break down which makes them portable and have a case. they smoke great. only thing is the price is kinda expensive. ranging from 60-250 bucks. a decent sized one will run you about 125 i think. but check em out if this sounds interesting to you. SimplyJustAndrew
Purchase a mini-mya http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/conf...p;idproduct=187 as seen here, I got mine on ebay for about 30, best deal ever, hits great and has great reviews, and Mya is a great brand all together very good starter hookah
JDHarding
Replacing all that stuff will probably cost as much as buying a new one. A KM would probably be good. I'm kicking myself for not getting one.
Matt-641
Yeah I was looking at the Myas, they seem to be pretty good. My goal is to try and stay under $50, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

JDHarding
Yeah I'm sure there's quite a few small pipes for under $50.I forget if the Mya QT is under $50 or not, but a lot of people like it. It's a pretty small pipe, though. But it's easy to clean, easy to set up, and easy to smoke. The QT's base, from what I hear, is more durable than the other small Mya pipe bases, like the Gelato's base.
glz88
Toss it and get a new one...The parts may not fit perfectly if you get a new stem with a base. Buying a new one will save you time and money
Capt. Morgan
QTs run about $45 minus shipping. Just got a Bambino last week and I absolutely love it. For small hookahs a Mya would be your best bet. For something a little bigger MZ is a good brand with a really reasonable price tag. And of course there is always KM, never owned one but everyone on here raves about them.

delSol_si
http://cgi.ebay.com/Acrylic-One-Hose-Hooka...p3286.m20.l1116I have this posted in the eBay finds thread, but thought I would copy it here incase you feel like being a real cheapass. Mya acyrlic for $15 plus shipping. It's tiny, but cheap. I don't guarantee the authenticity of them as I am not the seller and am not quite hookah savvy enough to tell the differnce between a real or fake.If you want to have some fun, you could go to the "how to" section of the forum and then go to your local hardware store and try to piece things together from scratch, it's always entertaining to see what you can come up with. Just make sure you read what materials people on the forum advise to stay away from for health reasons.
Matt-641
I thought about making my own at one point, but I'd rather have something I know will be good, then maybe build something for the heck of it sometime down the line. I wound up taking advantage of that deal on hookah-life for the QT, also got a phunnel bowl which should be nice.Funny thing is, I set up my older hookah today b/c I hadn't smoked it for a while and it was smoking better than it has in a long time. oh well, I'm sure the QT will still be better.
