yashman19
Sure. I've put tons of coal burn marks on the carpet of my apartment...Man, the schools gunna fine my parents ass like theres no tomorrow.... When I lived in the dorms last year, our floors were tile, but my roomy has a massive section of his homes old carpet, so we brought that in and it was fine to burn. Didn't matter because we were tossing it at the end of the year. I recomend going out to target or something and buying a floormat or square carpet, and just place your hookah on it for this exact reason. Carpets arn't cheap to fix.. mushrat
Heck, someone, either wyteboy or was it useless, bought an oil drip pan: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail....x?categorycode= 3321&mfrcode=BLI&mfrpartnumber=11430 A little drastic but cheaper than a rooms worth of carpet. I use a roll up rug myself for home and travel use.
JByer323
A cheap roll up yoga mat does wonders. I use one of the woven reed type ones.Anyway. Drinking a fifth of SoCo by yourself, then setting up the hookah always leads to interesting places. It also makes it more of a challenge, because the damn coal just won't stay in the tongs long enough to get lit.
MR Bubble
Personally, I would go to Lowes, or Home Depot and get a 4X4 sheet of plywood to set it on. They will cut it for you, but now that I think about it, I've seen 4x4 ply already cut there too. Go for the hardwood ply (like maple or ash) as it looks nicer than regular soft-junk ply. Also, now that I'm actually thinking about it (smell the smoke?) 4x4 may be kinda big. Adjust as you need. MR Bubble
JByer323
If you have one place you smoke often, one of those plastic floor thingies you put in offices to roll your chairs across would word well too, me thinks.
JByer323
Going back to the original topic of the thread... why is it whenever you drop a coal somewhere you shouldn't have dropped it, it doesn't just fall, but does the whole exploding coal of death routine? smokingsmith
Yes, I've done this. Not with a hookah coal, but with a lit pipe. I smoke pipes in the house, and inevitably I walk around at times. New carpet, 2 months old, dropped the pipe. Nice little burn marks all over the place. Now I sit down with my pipe and when I move, I put it down! My wife even made me a pipe rest to hold my pipe when I set it down. I use a hearth rug under my hookah, and have a nice brass dish I light and bring my coals in from outside with. The ashes go in the bottom to insulate the metal.
DarbyFett
Hah....ya it exploded into tiny pieces covering about a square foot of carpet and i stomped it out as fast as i could but three large chunks...melted the carpet. I was so scared she was gonna be pissed but she said they most likely wernt getting their deposit back anyway.
aronparsons
I've dropped a few coals, and yeah, I'm not getting my deposit back. So now I don't care as much, it's just an eyesore. After I move, I'm going to get a piece of wood or a mat for the hookah. You can always try to patch the carpet, but it'll never look perfect (might pass inspection though if you're good). JByer323
If you're real talented, you can get a paint that matches the color, and tab a tiny bit where the burned hole is. There will still be a hole, but if you match color well, it shouldn't be noticable.Did this in a friend's apartment in like eight places, and she ended up getting her deposit back. nuschultz
I dropped one on my carpet in my dorm room. Didnt leave a mark, just ash. I was getting ready to ash it anyway, so it just did the job for me. Fun times.
ghunfrytimma
ive dropped coals numerous times on carpet...luckily its never been My Carpet just my friends...i gues its part of the experience...like ive said in other posts thats why i like a wind cover when i blow on the coals...but as far as ashing them...it takes years to master im guessing
pavlakos_politakos
in my kitchen the floor is a wood laminate(brand new)and it just wont burn.ive dropped coals so many times on that floor and the worst comes to me sweeping the ashes.now the living room on the other hand....theres a big rug wich has multiple burns(i give it up to 10 burns)and on the wood floor in the same room theres probably like 5 burns, and even one on the coffee table. jmexx
I've burnt the kitchen table, the living room floor, the dining room floor, my bedroom and my sisters bedroom. Surpsingly, all not my fault! The worst, though, had to be in my sisters room, we were all watching a movie, relaxing, and one of my old friends had the hose. He yanked it too hard, the coal fell and we were yelling at him to pick it up. He was like "where's the coal?!" and was on a rolling chair. He basically rolled over the burning coal 4-5 times before he realized it, causing many burn holes on a hardwood floor... bah.Jon
surfpico
I burnt a hole in my sneaker with a tiny coal.I really like these kicks so I just sewed it up. Plus I'm poor and a college student and can't afford new shoes.
DrunkenWizard
I was at a party and someone knocked over my hookah. It burnt the guys carpet and he had a fit. He was trying to get some guys to jump me, so I ended up giving him my hookah to make up for it. What really sucks is it wasn't my fault. That's the last time I bring a hookah to someone else's party.
Sonthert
One time we were smoking a hookah at my house and this girl who was there...OK, well that was slightly off topic. There was this other time I had been smoking by myself. I have tile floors, by the way. I left the hookah to go get ready and I came back about an hour later, dropped the ashes in the trash and cleaned my hookah. I walked out of the house, realized I had forgotten something, came back in and my trash was on fire! Appraently those ash-trapped nuggets can stay lit for quite awhile! Sonthert
Wait, wait. One more. I was taking my hookah to clean it and I bumped into something and the charcoal went rolling everywhere (I was holding the hookah up fairly high). I then noticed that my shirt pocket started to sting...sure enough a nugget of coal had dropped in my pocket! The next night, I was doing the same thing, bumped into something else and the coal went spilling everywhere and again, a coal landed in my pocket! This time I figured out what was going on and ran to the sink. Now I carry my hookahs low and/or brush the coals off for transport.

c4r80n
i ashed a coal once, and some burning embers fell off and landed on the plastic baggy full of tangiers. the plastic bag started to melt, and it seemed like it wouldn't stop, it kept going. Luckily it is just a bag. but it was threatening my tangiers!
