mushrat
We are starting a pool on when the next poster violates the rules and says they didn't see them....
*HOT&SMOKING*
Nice move Mushrat... Now hopefully we wont have as many rule breakers My guess would be about 24 hours until someone says they didn't see the rules -H&S

mushrat
persoanally i find it anyoning as hell. Hopefully i can find a way to make it go away after a while for each person. But for the time being, it's there to stay.
mitchell8621
beyond annoying but I understand...I find myself staying away from going through posts as much out of shear annoyance...but as I said...completely understandable
Giant Ninja Robot
it is annoying as hell. im not as interested in reading through threads when i have to scroll so much and be CONSTANTLY reminded that there are some not so smart or angry people that break the rules.I would love a way for this to dissapear or at least be a thing that appears to new accounts only for a certain duration.my .

jfaltous
How about one of those splash page things where you have to click "I agree" every time you come to the site (like porn site style)... List the rules there and then every time someone visits the site they have to click it to get in.

jfaltous
I don't know what you're talking about sir, I have never seen anything like that before in my life. I have only heard wild rumors and stories of such sites.
mattarios2
Annoying? I really don't find it that annoying. A few extra wheel scrolls on the mouse isn't much work. It is less annoying than people always posting shit that goes against the rules. And I am sure it will create a lot less annoying work for the mods. So ... one hand washes the other. That is, if it actually works and people straighten out.
jfaltous
I find the few extra wheel scrolls annoying... mostly because its a few hundred extra wheel scrolls (and counting) so far this morning, not just two or three... While I see the merit in it, it's also in a sense punishing the people who know and follow the rules. Plus, we don't want to put the mods out of a job

SimplexCoda
Im just gonna throw this out there about the splash screen idea with the i agree button, i think it would end up being just like an EULA and people will just scroll and be like whatever let me in here. I could see it happening with this method too, but itll be slightly harder since it doesnt ever really go away.
mushrat
im going ot see what it will take to get a "click here to continue" kinda messege. Im not real skilled with the actualy mechanics of this place...

Plus, having them listed above each page has the same problem. I don't think there's any way around that unless you give people some sort of pop quiz that they have to pass before they enter the site

kbCorruption
I don't really know how effective this will be. I think most jackasses will just skip over it like I do of those loooong ass software terms of agreement forms. You know, the ones where you basically agree that even though you paid hard cash money for their product, you don't actually own shit and you can go shove it if you have a problem. I like the "click to continue" idea, but I think it will be only as effective as what you got going on now. At least it wouldn't annoy regular members who have actually read the rules. mushrat
Believe me, I spend more time on here than probably anyone else..it's annoying for me as well to roll that mouse the 3/4 of a rotation to get back to business.
mattarios2
Well i noticed on certain sites like newegg or something, if you click on an item half way down the page, then decide to go back to the page you were previously at, when it brings you back it automatically jumps you to the spot you were at.So say we click a link and then read the post, if we decide to go back to the main page, it will jump us to the spot we were at.Maybe thats do-able or is that browser specific? chinamon
i find it annoying as hell but i think you're going in the right direction.is there a way to just display the rules only once every time a user logs in? i think that would work better.
