So..can Everyone Find The Rules Now?

Recommended Posts

If you make a splash screen with rules that would pop up every 24hours or so, it would be a good idea to make a quiz. For example, state a rule and ask what number is it. Right now I'm pretty sure no one's still reading them, just scrolling past them. smile.gif

Maybe this is just me, but I think you should make them more concise for a splash screen. I have a feeling it will be like what everyone is talking about and people will just be like "yeah, yeah.. let me in." I don't know much about how splash screens actually work but it seems to me that if there's any more scrolling on there, that will just negate all this effort even more. For some reason the Wedding Crashers rules keep coming to mind. Short and sweet. Like number 3, just the first sentence with "based on US laws" on the end. It's not like forum rules are a legally binding contract and all the admins on here are 100% fair imo, so if a rule needs more explaining then that, based on an infraction or w/e, someone can either go look it up if they feel so motivated or just ask an admin what the deal was. Hope that made some sense.

Wow, the placement of the rules is obnoxious. I am faily new here, only been on a couple months maybe and have already gotten banned twice. It wasn't that I didn't read the rules, hell, I have read them several times. My problem has been understanding the context of the rules(I guess that is what I would call it? unintentional mistakes maybe?). The first time, I posted in the review section, I was in a hurry and not paying attention, didn't even realize I had done it until I wasn't able to sign in. The second time was an honest mistake. I posted accidentally posted a NH. I honestly thought it was a hookah until Mush explained why it was not. If I had known it was NH, there was no way I would have posted it. That is just an example of how someone can get banned while still knowing the rules, just making an honest mistake. Best solution I have found is to PM Mush with anything in question, which works really well.

The main thing I find annoying about having the rules displayed like they are is that I am on campus and sometimes the connection is crappy. After I am done with one thread and scroll to the top to get back to the list of topics or next for the next page or back, I don't know if it actually has worked or not since the top of the page looks identical now. There have already been SEVERAL times that I have pushed back or whatever and scroll down to find it is the same thing I just looked at and the connection was just being slow. This is not in any way a complaint, just merely stating my position of discomfort. I understand the reasoning behind it and if this is how Mush wants it, then so be it, I respect the decision. you know that there are buttons at the bottom of each thread to do those actions right?
when you are done posting or reading a thread, click the GO button at the bottom right corner of the page and it will take you back to the thread listing.
there is also a link right above the GO button that will take you to the next thread.

Mush I know how annoying rule breakers can be, but you really cant control every one asap, thats kinda the nature of a forum people talk about what ever. It's good that you enforce the rules and have the report buttons ( which I think is a great idea ), but that huge rule tablet has to go lol.

How about a word filter? I know forums have that, just throw in all the banned words and that should help a bit. Anywho I do appreciate you and the mods keeping this forum spam, and retard free. Thank you.

i find it funny, but hopefully there won't be a ban in a while and it can go away because it is kinda out there haha. but for the time being it's defiantly needed, too many bans have been going on over people using stupid words. And like you said if your not sure about what your going to say just pm a mod, I pm'd mush when i was confused about a lingo and got a response in 5 mins...it's not that hard tongue.gif

Maybe once someone with envision board skills gets on here, we can spam email instead with the rules a couple times with an "I accept after taking this rule quiz" button.

Having to go down the page a little more is annoying, but I prefer it over a pop-up of rules and a button to press every time I would sign in...anything but a pop-up, that's why we have blockers for the rest of the internet.
