soldier92
After hearing Mattarios talk about getting better flavor with warm water I decided to give it a shot, and let me say it makes a big difference.I did Tangiers Blue Gumball and it really does make a difference with flavor. I suggest everyone try warm instead of cool, I was not dissapointed.
modisess
yeah i sometimes do that about 90% tap water and 10% hot hot water.

inino
i get great flavor either way, just sometimes with certain flavors i like my water very cold.
Click
Have used warm water for the last 6-8 months. Every body always trips and asks me why I'm not putting ice cubes in the base

ikon
Hmm. I'll have to try this. I've been using water that is slightly cooler than room temp since I've been smoking.
soldier92
It's funny because nearly anything you read says cold water should be used but the opposite improves flavor. I didn't realize so many people already knew this, most people that I've talked to use ice cold water exclusively.
clumsygrace
Just tried using warm water in the base tonight. The flavor definitely was better. We used Starbuzz Passion Kiss. Noticed that the smoke was less dense. The rings wouldn't stay together! It's a tradeoff, I guess.
shalowlow
It's the same idea for getting the most flavor out of anything...you want to have a nice beer (not Miller but a nice belgian) drink it slighty warmer than refrigerator cold....or try making tea with cold water....it just doesn't work.Warm water does make a world of difference for flavor in almost everything. I have a problem (that could be the shisha, the packing, the coals or a combination) that flavor is only steady for a few minutes, then fades... although it does sometimes come back mysteriously later in the session (the water warms!) as I move the coals around.does it make the smoke more harsh? i always assumed the cold water was to keep the smoke from getting so warm that it could burn you... K1024
water really isnt there to help cool the smoke, yes it does that, but its incredibly inefficient.its there to filter the smoke, warm water simply filters better, which is why your smoke seems less dense. Tyler
I prefer thicker smoke to do rings with lol, Starbuzz is flavorful enough to smoke out of an icecube :-P

inino
do not put boiling water, or even extremely hot water for that matter.one time in arizona at the river it was 125 and we put water straight out of the faucet which was under the sun. we felt incredibly sick and the flavor was disgusting.
