fcbayern
OK so I smoke last night for the first time... It was ggggreeaattt better than I ever expected.. Went down to south beach sat down and smoked a bowl of watermelon for like an hour just chilling and relaxing..So now I gota buy a hookah to have at home.. I want to buy a nice piece the first time around. Nothing cheap i will have to upgrade later on. I thought about a KM or a MZ. I wanted to know if you guys had any suggestions. I would like something big probaly at least 28-30 inches. I also wanted to know is there any advantage to a 3metal stem other than looks? I would appreciate your pros and cons on all of these.. thanx
fineout
trimetal is basically only for looks, either KM or MZ are both a good choice, km are a little more intricate but they smoke about the same.
SimplexCoda
Well first off congrats. Secondly I dont know of any KM's shorter than 28 inches, in fact im thinkin most of them are in the 30s and on up to the 40s. I love my KM, i have a Mash'al. But as much as i like it, i dont use the ice bucket ever. So it just looks pretty now, when i got it i figured i would use it, but i didnt really notice anything. I havent tryed MZ so i dont know much about them. I do have a nour on its way to me though so i if you havent got anything by the time i try it out (prolly be a few days after i get it cause im really sick) then i will let you know if i suggest it for you. Hope that helps.
delSol_si
I asked a very similar question when I first started here. The guys were nice enough to give me their advice, so I figure I should probably pass it on. First, they told me that the tri-metal hookah is harder to clean than the others. Most hookahs I have been told you can actualy just run really hot water though the stem and it gets most of the stuff out, as long as you clean after every smoke. I have been told the tri-metals require a brush and scrubbing it to get the same effect. Second, I have been told that pretty well 30"+ all smoke just the same. Also have been told that most KMs smoke the same as well. Mainly just cosmetics. I personally went with a 32" KM ice just because I like cool smoke and I watched Codename067's vid on youtube and fell in love, though his is a 38" or 40". I was going to get the taller one, but I couldn't find any for sale at the time I wanted to order and I was too impatient to wait, plus I got a good deal on the 32". Also, I mentioned I live in a dorm room and cleaning space is limited so one of the guys brought up the point that the taller the hookah, the harder it is going to be to clean in limited space.Oh, btw, I thought the Heart of Lion was like 22" and 23" and made my KM? fcbayern
Great guys,, thank you for all of the advice, I really appreciate it.. I think I'm going to order a KM double pear 38".. U guys see any issues with this being my first Hookah?
Scalliwag
Expect a learning curve and a lot of trial and error as you go. It sounds like a nice hookah you are getting. So that should be motivation enough to help you push forward even after a nasty smoke or two.
ToncSTAR
i wouldnt go for a KM or a MZ if you only just started smoking. Something really easy but good is a MYA, i suggest a QT or Mini Acrylic/Regular Acrylic. Get about the same cloud size and pull from a KM/MZ, but simpler, easier to clean, mobilize and take to places.

Only 45 dollars at most places and it will last you as long as you take care of it. Now that I consider myself a hookah veteran im gonna upgrade to a KM when the time comes =]MYA QT though, 10/
Scalliwag
I'll admit I smoke out of my QT more any of my other hookahs. The others only come out when friends are over. The rest smoke great but not worth the extra hassle for solo sessions.

Pull out the Obelisk, KM, MZ and Pharaoh for friends or when the wife leaves and I can smoke in the living room. Her being pregers has banished me to the office. Fluffy
Mya qts are awsome they are portable and make huge cool smoke, if you had a brain in your head you would buy a small phunnel bowl with it.
MWlax00
mya QT + Phunnel + Nammor hose =Golden
jeremyk
I think that a smaller mya would be a better choice for your 1st hookah. I have a 35" km blue caravan, mya qt, mya piccalo and a small two house Egyptian and I find myself using the qt or piccalo more than the km cause it's easy to clean n smokes really well with my km house. arhutch
i agree. a smaller hookah is better for first timers/personal sessions and much easier and quicker to clean. my bambino is superb. just upgrade bowl and hose and it smokes wonderfully. fcbayern
Thanx sooo much for the advice guys, I really appreciate it. Not quite sure I understand though. Is the only negative of owning a large hookah is the cleaning? Is it that bad to clean a big hookah? I'm trying not to buy a bunch of hookahs, just one really nice one. Something that I can smoke with the wifey, but also a nice showpiece for when friends come over.If the setup is not very different I think I can handle cleaning the bigger pipe. I am the same way, not wanting to buy a bunch of hookahs, just one good one, which is why I spend $100 on a KM rather than getting a $50-$80 hookah. I'm supposed to get it in the mail tomorrow..uber excited!!
fcbayern
So I checked some stuff out on youtube on cleaning a hookah, seems straight forward and looks like it wouldnt take that long, maybe 10 min. Besides I cant lie, I just want a big pipe!! Is that a bad thing.. I think I'm goin to order a KM Double pear.. Cant wait!!!
