Red_Pyramid
How safe are quick light coals, I've heard they release caustic gases and put off far more CM than do natural coals. I enjoy them (belgium charcoal is what it says on the label) because they are so convenient and only charcoal supply available in Myrtle Beach... AKammenzind
Really, we don't have much idea on the health differences between coals, other than the assumption that it probably isn't as good to use quicklights. You should definitely light them either outside or near an open window, because they do put out a lot of fumes that you really don't want to inhale. That said I still use them often simply because they're so damn convenient.
fineout
like everyone else said, light it near a window and dont start smoking until the coal is red all over.
