Z2G
Hey,I got my order in with KCherry, Horchata, and Blue Gumball... All the flavors are smoking good except the blue gumball. It doesnt smell appealling. I started acclimating it and it still has that smell to it. Did i get a bad batch or what should I be doing?Thanks,-Christian
mattarios2
how long have you been acclimating?
ebarnes02
The Lucid shouldn't really need any acclimation, my experience with blue gumball was that it was a pretty mild flavor, definitely not as strong as K-Cherry or Horchata. What about the smell isn't appealing?

It smells fainly of sour blue rasberry candy.. it's not incredibly strong but it's there, does yours smell like anything similar?

soldier92
Actually I was turned off by the smell as well. Try smoking it, I enjoyed the flavor much more than the smell.P.S. I bought the same three flavors and thought exactly the same thing about blue gumball, crazy.
Hojo
My BGB has been acclimating for about a week and a half and it still smells like the Kool-Aid Man's asshole. I know it's not acclimated because there is still that soy sauce smell to it, and I am starting to think that it simply will not acclimate. Every other flavor of Tangiers that came in that same order and were delivered on the same day have been fine, it's just the BGB that is weird. I ordered maybe 3-4 kilos of Tangiers in all, and BGB is the only one to not acclimate properly.

JDHarding
I, too, recently bought some Lucid BGB from Hookah-Shisha.com and it's got a fowl burnt soy smell. After 24 hours of acclimation it still has a fowl burnt soy smell, though it now has kind of a sweet smell too. Smoking it is very gross.I think what happened is that some of the batches may have not been flavored. So these unflavored batches are just pure washed tobacco and molasses. Blech. Kapten Kanel
I believe tangiers is handmade by eric /sonthert (and his employees probably), i dont think that forgotten flavour is the answer. I have some issues with tangiers blueberry (normal line), just doesnt smell any good, some distant blueberry smell but thats it, i have acclimated it for several days, is it possible to actually "destroy" the flavour with a too big climate shock? Bulldog_916
Something tells me that if you have nothing to lose, heat it in the oven. It's just a theory, but some tobaccos are heat treated to help them to cure. Fire and flue curing allow the tobacco to heat up to a certain degree and allow the natural starches in the leaves to ferment and become sugars, hence the flavor factor of modern tobacco. If the tobacco has gone into a permanent state of humidity shock, you might need to "reset" the tobacco back to when it was first cured by heating it. I think even through the glycerin and molasses it's treated with, the tobacco will still respond to the treatment.

I'll try laying it out on tinfoil first for a few days. If that doesn't work, I'll try heating it up.
JDHarding
I think I figured it out.I laid the Blue Gumball out on tinfoil and let it sit all day, then I put it inside a ziplock bag and squished it around in there real good to mix it, and

JDHarding
I think I figured it out.I laid the Blue Gumball out on tinfoil and let it sit all day, then I put it inside a ziplock bag and squished it around in there real good to mix it, and got all the air out.I did this again today and now it's more sweet smelling and blueberry or raspberry scented. Not so much soy sauce now. I think the important part is to really mix it good, like in a plastic bag and squish it all around in there. I don't leave it out at night because it gets cold here in Washington. Edited February 14, 2009 by JDHarding
