But, I do know that the coloring was unexpected. The potter/ceramicists sometimes doesn't know what will happen once fired, which is what happened here. The bowl still had some left, but as is usually the case for me compared to the bowls, I couldn't continue. I also used CH Coconut coals, which I enjoy, but prefer Japanese Canary. I don't know how many coconut coals to use on a large phunnel because I haven't yet tried, but I have used four japanese charcoal squares/time on a large phunnel - over which I light a brick of two still-joined squares for later use.Even with two coconut coals on the mini, it never felt harsh.
