Acclimating This Tangiers Is A Pain

Recommended Posts

im doing watermelon here, ive had it open spread out thin on a strip of tin foil for 48 hours..then i scooped it up and have it sitting in a zip lock bag for 3 days and it still smells like crap..did i not leave it out for enough time? im located in illinois..so i hear humidity has something to do with it..

that is why I don't buy the stuff anymore. I am in Massachusetts and it took weeks upon weeks to acclimate my stuff. Basically depends on where you live, for me, it is no use buying tangiers.

If it still isn't good in another couple days, I wouldn't buy the stuff anymore unless you want to try it in a different season.

My blueberry took about 2-3 weeks before it even started to smell like tobacco. Never got passed the tobacco smell, had no blueberry flavor at all, so you are not alone my friend.

Yeah you didnt acclimate it long enough, go and get a wide and shallow tupperware and put it in there and stir it often till it smells good. Also make sure you dont have it acclimating in a place where humidity will change often, eg. kitchen, basement, near a door that leads outside. This will just make it take longer.

Og isnt bad if you can get it to acclimate, man I feel sorry for you guys all my tangiers comes in smelling perfect.....

What may also help is, if you get it smelling nearly there, pack a bowl several hours before you smoke, poke the holes etc, and then you can smoke later and the bowl itself will acclimate, leave it in the room you're going to smoke in. Lucid tangiers doesn't need much acclimation from my experience, I live in Connecticut right now, and I had to let it acclimate more over the winter than I did the summer, but I can still get it acclimated. Good luck man, it's a GREAT smoke but I know it's hard to acclimate. Try some different flavors, I had to let my Kashmir Peach acclimate for several days, but I've got some Marashino Cherry and some Grape that were fine after a few hours.

honestly save it for the spring and summer.

if it doesnt acclimate right you are just gonna get sick and waste alot of tobacco cuz it will taste bad

sand diego to chicago is a huge difference in humidity and temperature.( dont quote me, but i think the colder it is, the longer it will take)

I was told the colder the better b/c humidity changes less. But what you are saying does make sense b/c no one seems to have issues with acclimating in CA, or warmer areas, but then again it could just be because there isn't a high humidity change b/c it is staying in the same state or area, therefore reducing the "shock" factor.

heres how i do it and i live in Illinois also... just spread it out and let it sit till it starts to smell like the actual flavor. it still smells like poop its not done yet. so it needs to acclimate more ...

how long does it usually take for you?

it depends on the flavor itself... sometimes a few hours sometimes a day... when i got my lucid horcheta and lucid k cherry i had to acclimate them as well cuz it smelled like soy sauce i let those sit for about 8 hours and stirred it after 4 hours ... but i promise you will know when its done the smell with empower you.

thats part of the problem with homemade shisha like tangiers each batch is made differently so when you have a timing set on acclimating and order a new flavor it throws everything off.. patience my friend u wont regret the watermelon... let me know how it is i have lucid watermelon on my list of flavors to buy next

I must say i'm glad i don't go through that, i feel bad for you guys over on the east coast..... I live in WA state and it shows up smelling so strong i can't keep it open or my friends complain that their house smells like it (i generally smoke at a friends house). I acclimate for an hour tops just for good measure..... i'm going to be really disappointed when i finally get a batch i have to acclimate.

Nights,

I think your best bet is to go buy some cheap tubberware and but it in there, and just leave it open, or put the cover on top but don't seal it.

And stop smelling it every five minutes, because you won't know what your smelling anymore (i'm not saying you do that, but I sure did at first!)

But there is no reason to leave it out on aluminum foil because you'll be stressed about it the whole time...just let it be, check it at the end of the day, and you should be ok.

I've never had a problem with the acclimation. Whenever I get it here (i live in northern Missouri) it smells just about right and I just acclimate it for about 30-45 minutes before it goes to live in its glad ware.

and it always stinks up my entire apartment for a couple hours, especially the blueberry, but man is it worth it!!!
