Jeff_T
When I was in Denver a few weeks ago I went to this bar called the Tap House, simply incredible. Over 200 beers on tap. Had a seasonal Belgium, amazing but pricey (8.50 1/2pt) and HOP 15 by Port Brewing, talk about a strong IPA. It was good but I think I could only drink one of those every month or so. For regular drinking beers my favs. are pretty much anything New Belgium, Trippel or Mothership Wit esp, Guinness, Sam Adams (Boston and Winter)... I think my favorite beers are definitely Belgium though. So far I'd have to say Duval, Delirium (tremens and nocturnum) and Unibroue La Fin du Monde (although its a Canadian). arhutch
one of my favorites is called the reverend. its made by avery brewery in boulder colorado. bad ass beer, high alcohol content, and tasts amazing. CHECK IT OUT!!!
TheScotsman
A good IPA is #1. The more hops the better. (Only reason to go to Colo is Estes Park's Renegade IPA!!!) A good cold-hopped pale is ok, but few micros are cold hopping, even fewer do it well.Deschutes brewery's Imperial Stout (The Abyss) would be the top of the stouts. In a pinch I guess I can live with 1554 black ale, it's sorta OK.... for training beer.If I was slumming, I guess I could live with one of those Guinness widget-grenade-in-a-can stouts Just don't leave them in your car to get hot before opening! ebarnes02
Had a mix-a-six of Yards Brewing beers this weekend, i drink their philly pale ale and IPA pretty regulary, but I rounded out my 6 pack with a George Washington Tavern Porter, yards brews a line of revolutionary ales, they also have a Thomas Jefferson ale that he used to brew at montecielo. Anywho, that Porter was quite delicious, decided to post b/c i was sitting here at work thinking about drinking it again.
BrotherBuford
I completely revamped my brewing process and got back into homebrewing after about a 6 month downtime. I spent a butt-ton of cash on new gear, but the system works so much nicer now. Thus far I've made 15 gallons this year. It's so nice to have beer on tap in my kegerator again. Some of this stuff is pretty cool, and I manage it all in my kitchen.A 950W low-density heatstick (had to build this, can't buy the things):10 gallon Blichmann Boilermaker (these things ain't cheap!):New 10 gallon mash tun (for converting grain starch to sugar) made from a cooler:March pump:The boil!Plate chiller:Hops, after the boil:One day into fermantation:
thecyrax
That's a healthy amount of hops Last night I had an Allagash White, Avery Maharaja, Left Hand Milk Stout, and a Sierra Nevada ESBThen capped the night off with some Nakhla Lemon and Tangiers Melon Blend.Oh, and some Monopoly
blastoffbrett
Over the weekend I had my first IPA. It was Columbus Brew IPA and I thought it was awful. I guess I just haven't gotten used to really hoppy beer but I couldn't stomach the stuff. It did have a nice orange aftertaste to it though. I also had some Red Stripe and that is much better suited to my tastes.
