thanks, next time i will be more classical with my smoking and then i will try different things out

But what do you mean about blowing from the bottom?

you blow at the bottom of the bowl (the part where you place it on the stem) .... by doing this you loosen the tobac and will know if you have good air flow

learned this from my friend who works at a hookah bar

i do this all the time smile.gif if i dont i feel like all the baccy is clumped up at the bottom of the bowl. i also do this if iv been smokin for a while and im about to put on a new set of coals. it helps get all the heat out and mixes up the baccy.

You don't need to "soak" anything but the bowl.

Use a stem brush to clean out the stem. Fill the vase with a mix of baking soda and HOT water, let it sit until cool, then rinse out thoroughly, unless you think baking soda is tasty smile.gif

Make sure to run some water through the hose ports to flush any crap out, and make sure to blow out your hoses after every session. If your hose needs it, get some pipe cleaners and see what you can get out of the ends...but save that for when things are really fugly.

A tip to get charred matter off the bowls...put a bit of baking soda in your bowl, then add a slight amount of water...just enough water to make the baking soda stick to itself...now use your fingers and rub that all over the inside of your bowl and anywhere charred matter is. It will turn brown as it absorbs the matter, and within 10 minutes or so, you should have a spotless bowl.

As for the smoke....don't "pack" the bowl, just fill it...no pressing, no making shisha fit, just get it about full....then foil. I use an outer ring of holes around my foil, then an intermediate ring, and then 3 holes in the middle (toothpick sized) and it works great for me. For a phunnel, I just omit the middle holes.
