zzz
okay so i have two quick questions1) i got some blue gum ball from hookah-shisha. i have ordered this at least 3 times before and love it. but this one batch i got seems like it smells burnt. I've bee acclimating it for over a week now and it smells just as strongly "burnt" as before. when i smoke it, i can taste the burnt flavour and it's not as sweet as it used to be. what can i do to remedy this? am i just SOL with this batch?2) second, kinda gross. when i clean my hookahs and i brush the stem and then i run water through it, this brown/greenish crap comes out. i keep doing it until the water comes out clear. is this normal?!? mitchard
As far as your cleaning issue, yes thats normal. Its probably the buildup from the junk in the stem. If you are using a brass hookah, then that can happen from just running water through it period.
Bulldog_916
Make sure you stir the tobacco a lot. Get all the juices even and everything. Make sure you're hookah is clean. Use the right coals. Other than that, I got nothin.
inino
well if you live in a state where the absolute humidity is changing on a regular basis, i would say to save that tobacco unitl spring or summer. and ya all my hookahs have green shit that comes out every time i wash them. its not big deal. MeHT
The green stuff is just oxidized brass in your stem. It'll be there even if you don't smoke your hookah for a while and decide to wash it.

MeHT
It's not actually rust, it's tarnish. Rust would eat through the metal, tarnish is localized on the outer layer. And I'm not saying the sole source of the weird color is tarnish - it's just one of the reasons (the reason for the green tint, to be exact). zzz
Okay I feel better about the crap colored water then. What about my blue gum ball? It just smells really bad and I can taste it too...ugh, all the flavors from Tangiers are doing fine and went through the same process.
JDHarding
Blue Gumball seems to be Tangiers' most finicky flavor. I think it requires a lot of acclimation and stirring. Mine used to stink like burnt BBQ and soy sauce, but now it's gotten better after acclimating.
