From afar this Vette would appear to be just another Z06. Now rub your eyes and take a closer look, because these are the first spy shots of the highly anticipated, but yet unnamed super Corvette. The large hood bulge you see is rumored to be concealing a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, and packing upwards of 650 horsepower. This engine will likely use an integrated intake-manifold intercooler and should sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.4 seconds. And, with the addition of more carbon fiber in the body and expanded use of polycarbonates, this super Vette could weigh less than the current Z06.

GM's Performance Center in Wixom, Michigan will likely produce the powerplant, but expect only about 1500-2000 copies annually. Initially called the Blue Devil, there has been much speculation in the past several months about the name for this super Z06. Recently we hear that GM has scrapped the Blue Devil name in favor of Corvette SS (we hope not), Z07, or even reviving the Stingray nameplate. Whatever the name may be, expect this beast to carry a sticker around the $100,000 mark, which is by far the cheapest way to get 650 hp in a production car.

has anyone checked out the vehicles trailer for Transformers 2? pretty sure this was the one heading up the front of the "driving v" or w/e you'd like to call it.

I believe that's actually the 2010 Camaro Concept that was used for the movie, although if you look at the stingray and camaro side by side they are quite similar.

That was the 2010 Camaro in transformers, I have a black ss on order for fall 09. LS3 mmmm

when were these pics taken? Cuz this might have just been the concept for the ZR1, the description matches that of the ZR1 but obviously that isnt the same body design. I don't like it it doesn't fit in with the corvette heritage.

I am not sure what this is, whether it is a concept or a initial design for the ZR1 but one thing is clear, Chevy got very offended when the Nissan GTR was named a vette killer. Ever since the GTR was given that title, Chevy has been storming to be better. Although you cannot deny the raw power of the ZR1,it is still sticking to the old, played out traditon of American Muscle..."Bigger is Better". Nissan did something with their 6cyl monster that no automobile manufacturer has ever done, and what does Chevy do to steal the hype? Make their 8cyl motor and slap a supercharger on it. And even with the new ZR1 is can barely beat the stats on a 6cyl 3.8L Nissan. Its sad really, maybe one day American cars will be worth something again.

lol ya thats the same car Dy. I missed the 2 lol

no worries. at first i got really offended cuz i'm a car guy, but after reading i realized what probably happened. But yeah I agree with W_E, the GTR is an amazing machine. I think with the spare $25k I could make it faster then a ZR1 no problem. Any time there's turbos, there is more power to be had, imo. (**cough** John Shepard **cough**)

brent rau does not drive a street legal 7 second car with full stock interior but a monster RWD 2g that somehow manages 6's I believe. I don't consider him a DSMer, whereas Shep is my hero. Though I'm pretty sure Shep scrapped his 92 talon project because it was too fast (sub 7.5s) and didn't meet safety codes for it's class. anyway, I'm done thread-jacking. Hooray GTR!!

remember, concept cars are usually over-the-top styling exercises meant to grab attention. If put into production it would be refined considerably. The original Stingray concept car wasn't that great as a road car either:
