jschoenith
Ok, so i was looking around online and saw a video of a guy packing a regular bowl and then putting a foil ring on top of the foil then adding another layer. Then i attempted to try this cool looking way and i had no luck. I know most of you have phunnel bowls but i want to know your best way to get good smoke out of a regular bowl. cxc5120
When I used to use a regular bowl, I had to pack it really light and fluffy. Using al fahker you would have to pretty much sprinkle it into the bowl and never try to push down on it. And dont ever fill it past the brim or the tabbacco will burn and taste terrible. For the foil, I never used more than 1 layer lol.. And the holes is always your kind of preference, but I would use a thumb tac and pretty much cover the foil with them. Good luck
jschoenith
yeah i kinda been going back to my roots of smoking with a regular bowl and found that heat management is more important than i thought, thanks for the advice
cxc5120
For a regular bowl I would use two 3 kings coals, but put one coal flat oin the bowl and the other leaning on the other coal. Or you could probably just do like 1 and a half lol. But, no problem, I recently just got my phunnel but im hookedI would invest if I were you lol
a_shimoon
I use the foil phunnel hack (it was posted here some time ago)Basically mimics a phunnel. Anybody have the link?
modisess
if i'm using some easy light coals to smoke with, i will pack the bowl a little bit past the brim of the bowl. because all easy light coals give off considerably less heat than natural coals.but if i'm using cocos, or any other type of natural coals, i will pack the tobacco right up to the brim, doesn't matter if some tobacco is touching the foil. i place the coals on the edges and starts puffing.also, when you have done packing the bowl, and the you've already poked some holed on the foil. blow right through the bottom of the bowl, this will fluff up the bottom of the bowl and gives you better airflow. MeHT
I use the method described by the OP with my wide mod bowl. Works like a charm, never had burnt tobacco since I've started doing that. Only I use a variation with a tealight candle instead of a foil ring - saves me time making a ring every time.
