My Hookah Doesn't Taste Like It Used To

I've had an egyptian 32 inch hookah for just over two years and I just don't really enjoy smoking out of it anymore. The tobacco I put in just doesn't have the kind of taste it had back when I got it. I packed it with some x on the beach last night and it was ok but I really didn't care too much for it. The other weekend I was over at someone's house and they had a brand new mini hookah that has some kind of starbuzz on it, and it was amazing. I would say i'm a pretty good tender and that mini hookah wasn't setup nearly as well as I set mine up and it was so much better than mine.

I was mine out after every use and blow through my hose. Why doesn't my hookah taste like it used to even with consistent washes? After two years of off and on use do hookahs just get old and cover up the good taste of the tobacco? Anyone have a similar experience? I want to try soaking the insides of it with lemon juice to see if that helps.

It could be the hose? I have one that holds flavor like no other.

Yes, I'm sure most of us have probably experienced something similar, from old hoses if nothing else. Your best bet is to wash the hookah out with alcohol/lemon juice/alka-seltzer or something, and possibly get a new hose.

Like clumsy said it could be the hose; especially if you are cleaning your hookah after every session. How long have you been using the same hose? They do need to be replaced every so often.

I don't think it is the host because when I just suck air through it it doesn't really taste bad. And I thin i've only used the current host like 25-30 times.

Get a washable hose, like a Nammor or something.

You could also set up your hookah like normal, and instead of putting the hose in the valve, put your mouth to it and suck and see if the flavor is any better straight from the hookah. If it is better, then it's the hose and not the hookah.
