Wow, thanks for all the replies.

I've tried plenty of Nakhla flavors, and trust me I did enjoy them. But ever since I've discovered AF/SB/Tangiers, I really enjoy it so much more than Nakhla. Me and my buddies used to smoke Sweet Melon, and Peach/Grape mix (their grape flavour is excellent). I'm a big fan of huge smoke, so maybe that's why I'm liking the new stuff better.

is H-S the only one with Jars? Wish I could get more flavors in jars.

HC has DA, Strawberry, BA, and maybe some others in jars. They're 10 bucks a jar but that's still a great price for that great tobacco.

I'm looking for more kilo cans...hopefully a kilo can of sweet melon if I end up liking it a lot.

I was the exact opposite, I started out on AF/SB and cant stand it now. Nakhla and tangiers are the two best shisha's in my opinion. Nak is cheap, good flavor, takes as much heat as you can throw at it without burning and gives awesome smoke when you add gly. The flavors are more natural and not candyish like AF/SB. Like was stated, its all about what floats your boat.

nak is the shit!
think about it for a sec, they were the first company to make shisha as we know it.
they made it first, they made it best. imo nakhla IS shisha without nak, there would be no starbuzz (wich is crap anyway), no HookahForum, and no conversations about whats better.

i am not trying to sound like an ass, or a dick, but my question is,

why the lack of respect for nakhla?

I think how long the flavor lasts depends on whether or not you're using a phunnel, and how juicy the shisha is. Several people here swear by putting glycerine in it to make it wetter and give better smoke. Nakhla's okay by itself, but it's just too dry without glycerine or some other moist substance in it, so it's harsh and the flavor doesn't last as long. As for the nicotine content.. all unwashed shishas have high nicotine.

We know you aren't a fan of nakhla JDH give it up :-)

That's the thing that is amazing about nak tho, if you pack it correctly and use the proper heat, the flavor lasts and lasts and lasts, that is what is awesome, it is juice-less and still has tons of flavor so with egyptian or phunnel, the flavor keeps kickin!

Seems like Nakhla differs ALOT in quality from place to place, batch to batch etc... The nakhla here in sweden is mostly dry as a desert and seems to be generally of lower quality than the stuff ive gotten from the states. Makes it kinda hard to compare opinions etc...

I outlined my reasons above, actually.

Tastes harsh, high nic, flavor doesn't last as long, not wet, inferior smoke.

Nakhla shouldnt be harsh, back a little with the heat(although nakhla can take some punishment)/ check your bowl-packing technique, maybe add a little glycerin/honey/agave. Edited by Kapten Kanel

Engineonmute: Maybe I was the only one to notice this, but you said you tried Nakhla Raspberry.....Ummm.....THERE IS NO NAKHLA RASPBERRY! You didnt smoke Nakhla if that was the flavor you smoked.

Nakhla is one of the easiest, tastiest, highest quality smokes on the market today and I will stand by that till the time where I can say that I've bought several flavors and had them be terrible. I dont think that will happen any time in the near future.

Keep trying man. You'll feel the love eventually! Edited by Bulldog_916

sorry to jack the thread but I have a question concerning nakhla... My nakhla kinda lost a bit of it's flavor. Am I preserving it wrong or what? I keep it in its plastic it comes in and put all that in a tupperware-like container. Should I get something more air-tight?

I got sweet melon, lemon and mint. Melon taste only faded a little, while lemon and mint both have close to no taste now. Ive had lemon and mint for longer thouhgt.

Maybe set them out for an hour or two to acclimate. They are unwashed so it might be a humidity change.

Well I didn't say I wasn't a fan. I'm not a fan of the double-apple one, but there's many more flavors I can try and either like or dislike. I can also experiment with it and find the right amount of additives to make it good and juicy. That's another thing about Nakhla. It's cheap, so you can experiment with it all you want.

I just smoked some Nakhla double apple today, actually.

Nakhla was the first stuff I smoked. It was the only stuff available here. (4 years ago)

I didn't really care for it. The bowls started to taste harsh quickly, not a great tobacco, etc.

But I see a lot of people here that swear by it... has the blend changed? Or was I just getting crappy old stuff? I've smoked Nakhla lots, from all kinds of places, and it's never been great, and I don't even grade it anywhere near AF/SB/Tangiers etc.

Whats your thoughts?

that is definately a possibility. i had the same problem when i started buying hookah supplies locally a few years back. stuff kept lying on the store shelves for a long period of time because there wasn`t a whole lot of demand for it in the beginning.

as for nakhla in general: i started smoking hookah with it about six years ago and i`ve tried lots of different brands since, but i always keep coming back to it.
and thats because its always consistent for me, the bowl packing is easy and so is heat management. the flavours are also quite strong compared to other brands, and you can`t argue with the price.

also, i have added some glycerin before but i don`t really find it necessary. just pull the leaves apart and don`t pack it (in a standard egyptian clay bowl) too tight, and you`ll be fine.

Yeah, here in Portugal I've bought Nakhla from a couple of places, but now I stick to just one - the other one has drier (way drier) and tasteless shisha. I'm guessing they don't sell as much, so the stuff they have has been there for ages (it certainly seems so).
