bradleyclark86
So I've encountered an interesting problem. Probably the first of it's kind. I got a friend of mine to "see the light" and he ordered a phunnel and the glass scalli from MNH. I had never seen the scalli that MNH sells (I use the tea light candle method) so this was new to both of us. The thing is huge! His phunnel happened to be a bit larger than mine, but still, the scalli was huge. Even with an empty bowl, the top of the scalli was higher than the edge of the bowl. Packing the bowl was interesting because there was this mound in the foil. I like smoking with a scalli but I don't like the idea of having to constantly get candles or having a glass piece that's way too big. Any thoughts? Zinite
The original Scalli mod was some sort of piping end cap piece. Scalliwag might be able to chime in and help you out though.
inino
ya, there are pipe caps that you can hammer down and bend out the bottom to the right size, its gonna be a hassle though. maybe get another phunnel that fits your mod? never can have too many bowls lol. Scalliwag
When I ordered my glass phunnel and mod the mod was made for the phunnel. The mod is 3/16" lower than the rim.You are right it would be a bitch if the mod stood taller. Were these ordered as a set?
soldier92
I had a similar problem. The mod I recieved with my glass mini was too big for the mini, but I found that it fit fine in my small so it all worked out.

Were these ordered as a set?No, they were separate (which, I'm assuming is a problem?).I read somewhere about someone making one with a Jager bottle cap? I have one laying around. I put it in the bowl and it fits perfectly. Would just need to make little cuts for air flow. I'm just worried about heat vaporizing the paint and then me inhaling it. Anything left on it definitely won't come off from coal heat if it doesn't come off from an open flame.
JDHarding
I think MNH Scalli glass mods are for Tangiers small and medium phunnels ONLY. I don't think it'll work for any other phunnel bowl.It even says on the site that they're for Tangiers small and medium phunnels. Read carefully before you buy. Flavor was amazing, but I got hardcore CO poisoning. I was able to smoke for about 10-15 minutes and that's about it. I was nauseous and ready to puke. Too much went from the coal and down the hole. I packed like everyone said you're supposed to and...bam. Sickness. But with the scalli, it's much better. No sickness at all.

That happens when you use coals that aren't lit all the way - or lighting a quicklight in an enclosed area and staying there. If that's the only reason you're using the mod, ditch it. Light your coals all the way and you'll be fine.
chromecarz00
Dont put a hole in the middle or near the middle, i use only 2 rows around the outside as far out as i can get them...but i do feel the mod is waht makes the most sense, air flow wise and no shisha goes down the middle...plus i ALWAYS had shisha in the bottom left over, mod took care of that right away...Heres a picture of hte furniture caps, one of them i just heated to get the rainbow effect, the other i was too lazy to clean back to its polished look...$1.50 a pop, worth it totally.
