Help!? I Broke My Bowl!

Recommended Posts

Yeah... so... I've had my first hookah for about a week. I was cleaning it and it kinda... slipped from my hands and i went to grab it, but instead i kinda wacked it and made it hit the floor... HARD. Its one of the ceramic modern heads. It broke in half and i dont have the money to buy a new bowl... So what do I do? I'm supposed to be having a few friends over on friday and they were all excited about smoking hookah and yeah... I'm VERY angry right now, heh...

So... How can i fix a bowl?

I have a replacement bowl, but its too lose on the rubber part that was for my broken bowl. Is there a way i can make it tighter?

How cheap could i find a bowl?

>.< IDK! I'm just pissed amd need help... Plz?

I also didnt know where to place this post since I didnt see a "help" topic thingy.

if your replacement bowl is to loose, just wrap the rubber with some saran wrap and then put the bowl on, of course make sure you don't block the hole, but it should work just fine and create an air tight seal

So i tried the plastic wrap thing today and it worked GREAT.

^.^ Thanks for the help!

I would avoid saran wrap because of how it responds to heat. Wet paper towel is the way to go for sure. Just wet the towel and then cut pieces and start wrapping it around the grommet. You can squeeze water out and then it will make a really tight seal. You can also use electrical tape or even foil!

As said you can of course make a fruit bowl... it's easy, quick, and cheap. But epoxy is your friend for fixing a broken bowl, done it several times myself.

You sure epoxy doesn't release fumes when heated?

I would suggest wrapping the outside with a few layers of foil. Either that or the wet paper towels with the new bowl.

Some might, but I use the high temp epoxy and have never had any bad taste/sensation with the fixed bowls in the last two years of using them.

Here's what I am thinking...just a thought, but to get a regular Egyptian bowl will cost you less than the price of epoxy or anything like that. I can't get anything good locally, but I can still go pick up a standard Egytptian bowl for $4 bucks and epoxy is usually around $6.

Is it broke cleanly? Or is it shattered? If it is not too shattered, you can use aluminum tape (it is used to seal air extraction pipes, you can find it in most hardware stores really cheap) to repair it. It can withstand pretty high temperatures and is safe to use.

This is true. However, I'm really not sure how you could use more than a tiny bit of epoxy to fix even a horribly mangled bowl. Anymore I just stock up on discounted egyptians, 1/4-1/2 the price of normal bowls, and they smoke just the same. If one breaks, throw it out and you're down half a small lunch worth of money, if.
