Yea like DarkParade said, it's basically like a Graphic Novel, read from back to front. As long as you watch which ones she's getting into a lot are PG-13, but then there's also the adult ones that I'd keep an eye out for.

They are pretty much harmless, unless as previously stated they are adult. the adult ones go from weird to bazzaar with nudity and basically porn intertwined.

For the more harmless mangas, most are the basis for alot of anime shows. One i like to read is naruto shippuden. think comic book, but more of a series and alot longer.

JD I wouldn't be worried.
In Japan, manga is a term that's best translated as a "graphic novel". That would include Harry Potter-esque fairy tales, grimy crime stories, and, yes, adult content.
However, abroad it is usually marketed as normal comic books. I doubt you'd see much adult content because... it doesn't get translated into English due to the target audience (officially, there are translation groups on the internet that translate every type of manga but these never enter into physical circulation).

Same thing goes for anime. It's actually easier because everything that's released on DVDs gets rated.

Hope this helps.

I know its already been said, but lots of kids get into the manga scene. Like erufiku said, there are tons of graphic novels here.

Just stay out of the "back room manga" section...I've seen things there that will haunt my dreams.

Naruto and Inuyasha are the most popular in the us.
