kennmon
hey, ive stumbled across a new way to light natural coals, without a stove, electric coil etc. just use the sterno, generic brand etc chafing fuels. they burn with a hot blue flame, can be lit with a match, and all its easy to just lay a piece of mesh across the top and place the coal finger or wood chunk on. HookahEnthusiast
hmm looks like it could be a useful thing if your smoking outside of the home and want to use natural coals and not any form of quicklights..my only question is, is it reusable? or is it a one time thing? it reminds me of the things they put underneath food trays at buffetts...same concept mayb? kennmon
same thing they use to keep food hot at wedding buffets etc. its reusable, pop the cap off, light it, then to extinguish it, just pop the cap back on and it seals. they burn for atleast 4 hours a piece, and they sell 2 for a buck. HookahEnthusiast
you think the fuel used in these might give a bad taste to the coal?
kennmon
nope, its just alcohol and a gelling agent. alcohol leaves no bad flavors or smells. when we use them to keep food warm, they stay completely odorless.

MR Bubble[/quote] If you weren't gonna say it, I was. In other news....why not just invest in a propain torch? We got really lazy for about 2 weeks and used one to light quicklites. Lame, yes? HookahEnthusiast
yea i think when your in the convenience of your own home a stove or propane torch is the ideal lighting item of choice..but if your on the go and still want to use your naturals then those lil things look like theyd be a great thing to have IMO. gib0r
I got around to using one today. It was REALLY nice not having to hold onto a propane torch. -sean
