ilikemyusername
hey, sorry to bug like this, but heres the deal.i received a pack of lucid rasberry a week ago, it's been acclimating for a week now.it smells sweet, until i stir it then it gets back to that yuck smell, but when its done acclimating, what is it going to smell like? i've smoked it and it didn't taste BAD but it didn't taste like rasberry either.should it smell like rasberry?right now it kinda smells like crushed up cockroaches.(i just stirred it again)
mIckeyG
How do you know what cockroaches smell like?crushed?
Webbles
Generally speaking, Lucid Tangiers does not require acclimation, it certainly doesn't hurt it. Even tho i go by the "smells great, will smoke great", i would try to pack a bowl and see if it smokes like crushed up cockroaches.Where are you acclimating it? Where in the house are you leaving it out? Unless you live in a place with drastic humidity change, overnight acclimation is usually enough. mIckeyG
I'd hate to smoke crushed cockroaches. The smells great smokes great rule doesn't always apply i found out with AF strawberry.Smells like the most amazing candy in the world, but the smoke is just good.Apologies for not contributing. modisess
i had the same problem with lucid raspberry as well.. acclimated it for a week and a half... same problems with what you are having, sweet smelling until you stir it.. i smoked 2 bowls of it, and it tasted like.. well, crushed up cockcroaches.. i eventually threw it out after letting it acclimate for 2 and a half weeks didn't help. Hobbs
Well I got my stuff in Saturday and it has been in a sealed plastic container until now.Without even realizing your problems I decided to smoke Lucid Classic Raspberry this morning and everything was fine... smelled great, smoked great, and I didn't have to acclimate it. I guess it's just the luck of the draw with Lucid Raspberry. If I remember correctly I read something along the lines of Eric sells regular to Lucid 10:1 so you could have gotten an old out of date pack. ilikemyusername
i'm giving this another week and i'm starting a tangiers disappreciation thread, this shit aint cheap.
mattarios2
to be honest unless your climate is friendly the stuff sucks. Obviously it is awesome shisha, but it isn't and CAN'T be for everyone, for some areas it just won't cooperate and will never acclimate.
Hobbs
Yeah matt but he's talking about Lucid so if he can't even get that working then there's no hope for the man!Like I said I suspect a bad batch, try picking more popular flavors that sell faster. ilikemyusername
okay, i'm smoking a bowl right now, and it tastes sweet, but theres no rasberry flavor. it just tastes like "plain".i'm in florida btw.
Bulldog_916
So mix it with something else. Dont just give up on it, keep it indoors. Bake it, do something, anything but throw it out. 10 minutes at 350 degrees, maybe that will shock it back. Haha.
indian_villager
The way I acclimate OG tangiers is that I just leave a bowls worth out on the foil I plan on using for the bowl about an hour before smoking......It hasnt failed me yet.
cxc5120
Im in FL too and I cant ever get tangiers to smoke good... Ive left mine out on tinfoil and that didnt do anything for me.. And ive tried like 4 different ways of packing it..Maybe FL is just a crappy state for tangiers... If so, that stinks..
cxc5120
Well wait no... my buddy is in gainsville and he always sends me giant cloud pics of tangiers and saying "Haha" in all of them.. so Fl has to have some hope.

Well that didn't make them any less awesome, they were still the best technology out there to those available. You can't accomodate everyone but please a select few and as far as I'm concerned you're doing a good job.If that analogy makes any sense at all.Edit: My point was that it isn't fair to say Tangiers isn't a great shisha just because it doesn't work perfectly for everybody, it smokes great and tastes great for those who can get it. I have never had much luck with or appreciation for Nakhla but if I were to say it wasn't awesome just because I and some others don't like it I think I would be out of line. indian_villager
Try my way. Just leave a bowls worth of shisha on the scrap of foil you plan on wrapping the bowl with......let it sit for an hour or so in the open. Pack your bowl. Smoke......With this stuff and all the lore an the how to's its easy to get neurotic with it......STOP thinking so hard and just do it. The more you mess with it the more you are screwed. Stop freaking out about stuff and just smoke it. Trust me.

It could just be that the tobacco cant get acclimated because it still has more or less moisture in the leaves than the local environment. So it cant ever get truly acclimated with the humidity because it cant get rid of the excess or lack of moisture. It's just a theory, probably a flawed one, but it's the best I got for some of you guys who cant get it to acclimate. I'm in California, so it's likely that I'm getting it in the same conditions as it's being made in. I only need a day or so to get everything right. But for some, the dew point may be far higher or far lower than it is in any area of California. Just keep at it, experiment, etc.
thecyrax
I actually also have a batch of lucid rasberry that is not cooperating.... my OG tangiers smokes fine, but my lucids don't work?? I have maraschino cherry and rasberry in lucid and I can't smoke either well....When lit up, they have absolutely NO flavor. Been sitting out acclimating for WEEKS. My regular tangiers is just fine though..... I don't get it.I thought Lucid was EASIER to smoke
SuburbanSmoker
I had this problem with OG watermelon. i left it out acclimating for 3 days and didnt get a change at all. got impatient and cranked up my heater in my room and slowly but surely it started to acclimate.
