Codename067
Does not need to be glazed. Smoke it as it is.

Woodsytheowl
Just an update:I tried the bowl out last night and it works perfectly. Thick tangier flavor throughout! I measured the amount of tobacco it takes to fill the bowl and it's roughly ~20g. Thanks a bunch hobbs
Hobbs
I'm glad it worked for you, about 20g was what you were hoping to get in there iirc.

Woodsytheowl
So i've been pretty much using this bowl exclusively and now it's starting to blister on the sides. What type of high temperature glaze would you guys recommend putting on there? The white part is completely black like i assumed it would be but is now starting to turn white and expose the clay underneath. I'm looking for the easiest/cheapest solution possible. Thanks
delSol_si
Bump. I am going to try this to my small phunnel that got chipped: I don't have access to a diamond blade wet saw, so I am going to try this with an electric table sander next time I go home. Any tips before I try? How does one glaze a phunnel? I would rather reglaze the rim,but don't know how....And yes, I am desperate for a mini phunnel and can't get my hands on one, and since my small got chipped, this is the opportune moment. Amn_sinclair
i was gonna suggest u try something like this del. Im not sure what to use for glazing but if u hit up an arts and crafts store like hobby lobby i bet theyll have it
kdkhookah
You don't have to glaze it if you don't want to. Glazes are mainly for decoration. High temperature firing is what seals the clay and allows for high temperature use, microwave, oven, etc.

Id use some food-safe high temp glaze on that stat...but of course awesome cutQUOTE (jon bon @ Apr 28 2009, 02:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>So i've been pretty much using this bowl exclusively and now it's starting to blister on the sides. ThanksYou guys do know that glazing requires firing right? Refiring an already glazed piece is not an easy thing to do, especially when you really don't know anything about what cone the phunnel was originally fired at. You're better off not even trying. Zinite
Don't reglaze it. You most likely don't have access to a kiln, or the proper food-safe non-toxic glazes.
delSol_si
Ya, i guess i will jsut leave it unglazed. I can't even find glycerine, so the chances of me being able to reglaze it are slim to none.

From the originally oosting it sounds like it did just fine without the glazing for a while but after constant use it started to excpose the clay. But it looks like it took him amonth before it started doing that.
