Dylank0010
Ok so Halo Wars releases tomorrow if I'm not mistaken, or maybe it has already. Either way, there isn't nearly the hype for this game as any of the FPS Halos and the answer is quite obvious. Most everyone is sick of RTSs. I hate to say it, but it had to be done. I have been a huge proponent of them and I'm even sick of them. I spent most of 8th grade playing AoE II and I've owned all 3 with all expansions. And let's not forget those crack.. I mean software dealers... Blizzard and Starcraft. The other reason(s) I find this game to be something of a joke is that A) Bungie had nothing to do with making it (Ensemble is still cool though, go AoE!!) Michael Salvatori and Martin O'Donnell did not make the OST which isn't huge but for a Halo junkie, it's something of a slap in the face. And my favorite... C) This is supposed to be about the humans attempting to retake Reach, which is all fine and dandy because they actually stood a chance in ground battles, but everyone knows that Reach was a failure and the humans lost (planet gets glassed, etc etc death and destruction everywhere). Unless they seriously fuck with the storyline, I don't see how this game could be fun. I like games where you can win, or at least start with the notion that you can win (i.e. Halos 1-3), but this is set before all the others and we all know how it turns out. It made for a great book IMO and this game, graphically, looks pretty impressive, but they are messing with tradition here.Anyway, my little rant on a total nerd topic. If anyone picks this up, lmk how it is. I'd be interested to see how it is accepted by both Halo diehards and the casual players.
Will_Evo
Actually for the reason you mentioned "to be something of a joke is that A) Bungie had nothing to do with making it" it may be amazing..all bungie did was set the scene...they left the gameplay to someone who has done it before and with good results. I am excited to play it...not only because I love Halo, but because starcraft is good but old...its time for a change.-Evo

Dylank0010
hmm split decision it seems. well the day has arrived and im not sprinting anywhere to go pick this up. maybe i can convince someone i know that it's supposed to be the best thing ever so i can see it in person. suppose this just means that i'll keep waiting for SC2 and eventually diablo III whenever that occurs.i'll have to read the wiki as GNU mentioned and get back to this
Dylank0010
QUOTE (GNUWorldOrder @ Mar 3 2009, 07:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>im tempted to ruin it, i read the wikipedia page!well after having read the synopsis from halo wars and rereading the synopsis from "contact harvest," i still dislike Ensembles neglect of almost everything from the storyline. No mention of Johnson or Jenkins or the San 'Shyuum takeover. I assume "Forge" represents Johnson? And i like how there's a spartan spec-ops team on some planet that has never been mentioned before this game. per my understanding, spartans were in HIGH demand no matter what year we're talking about. i don't see why there would be a group of them just posted up.One thing I will say about the Halo universe, they certainly know how to leave everything vague and wide open until they either need to insert a book or a game for it all to come together. W/e though. I'm sure i'll eventually go buy it, put all my quarrels with it aside, and just play for the sake of Halo.
K1024
actually in the books it talks about how a lot of spartans were assembled at reach, but there was an amount that couldnt make it because they were to far away.also they had the newer spartans...i believer they were training them on reach though i may be wrong. its been a long time since i read the books... soldier92
Console RTS games suck. Homeworld and Starcraft and Company of Heroes etc. etc. are awesome, but strategy games just can't be done the same on consoles. Not that I don't like other console games. And not that I don't like Halo, but I am not getting it.

I've read the first 3 books a couple times but i've yet to really refresh my memory on the last 3, so I could be wrong as well. I think "contact harvest" was number 5 so it's be awhile since I read it.

This game should not have spartans in it...that is kind of sad...I really really hope that if all the hype is true about a Halo Movie...they stick with the timeline and books. We will see.-Evo
Dylank0010
have you watched the "arms race" video or either of the other 2 teaser movies? pretty sure they now have HD versions for free dl on xbl from one of the halo shops. i think they look pretty badass but you're right, if they don't stick to the story then what's the point..
