cxc5120
In my past I've had a nammora hose that just randomly started unraveling after about 3 weeks of use. I bought my razaan hose a while ago and it has held up fine. I really think it is a luck of the draw kind of thing.
redjako
I think there would be a niche for some thick, long, washable HIGH QUALITY hoses...since they already sell these cheap things for sometime 30+ bucks...gahh

If that fails, 3 dollars will get you a great hose as well. Plastic from Lowe's or Home Depot.
ih303
So I heard back from Johan at HJ, and he's going to send me a replacement Razan. We'll see how this one holds up.I'm still contemplating buying a Grand, though. I mean, as long as it lasts longer than a week it'll be superior to my Razan. jezter6
Wait - so a "removable" hose tip comes out and the grommet is stuck to it - suddenly quality is all downhill and they suck? How do you ever deal with your hose ports? I'm sorta glad my grommets come out.I wrap my grommet in that white plumber's tape to help it seal against the hose and all is well.

The grommets in hose ports are supposed to come out. It is in deed a quality issue.

It's a GROMMET. It's a piece that goes between 2 other pieces. If it was 100% sure NOT to come out, why the heck would you NEED a grommet? You'd just have the hose tip fit snugly into the handle.QUOTE (ryno @ Mar 4 2009, 12:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The problem isnt that it comes out, its that when it goes back in, it likes to pop out and not seal all the wayRubbish. Mine has come out and seals perfectly fine. My roommate's came out, seals perfectly fine. I think people are jamming the crap out of that mouthpiece to try and get it stuck in there are have probably widened the handle based on stuffing it in to far. Again, I don't think that's what I would call shoddy craftsmanship. Now I saw someone who said the hose comes undone from the handle. I have not seen that and haven't seen a whole lot of reports from other forum members that it does that often enough to warrant that as a crappy design or shoddy craftsmanship. Sounds like a one-time problem to me.Personally, I think you guys are getting way too worked up over something that's not really a problem. Usually you don't glue something unless you plan on it staying in place. Although, I could be wrong.Personally, I'm happy for all those who have had a positive experience with their Razan hose. I'm completely open to the possibility that I simply got a defective unit and that my replacement hose will maintain its structural integrity. <crosses fiingers>
mattarios2
the falling apart of the hose does happen. I had a razan and had no probs, a bunch of my friends have them and I see how they handle their stuff (pretty good overall) and 2 out of my 3 friends who own hookahs had fallen apart. It happens but it isn't a huge deal, easily fixable with glue. It can be hit or miss, but majority of the time it is a hit, some people but not a ton of people report the falling apart of the hose handles. Hippo_Master
Scoop is completely right. And KM hoses all suck now as well... no leather at all in those things like they have in Egypt. Razans/Nammors/Grand hoses just fall apart, it's how things are. The best way you can have a reliable hose is by making your own.
srawas89
I have a nammor that I bought locally and it has been treating me well. The grommet recently came out and yes it shouldn't but using a damp paper towel I made the hose tip so snug that I wasn't suprised that it came out do to the force I had to pull out the mouth piece because it was so tight. If that is the only issue I wouldn't worry because you can still make a tight seal
indian_villager
The handle on my razan unraveled months ago and I re wrapped it and secured it with duct tape and hid the duct tape underneath the wristband thingies. Then while hammered I think I stepped on it and snapped the thin walled tube used for the handle in half. So I rebuilt it with a thicker bit of what appears to be ABS pipe that I had around and for a twist I wrapped it in some spare denim....I think its pimpin.
