Illmatic
Right, so last week I hooked myself up with what I thought was a KM. Looked pretty gen, I came on here and I read some shiz about seeing a "lotus" etc which this shisha definitely has. The problem I'm having is, the whole shisha is clean, but I can get hardly ANY flavour out of it, it will smoke like a beast but there's no or very little taste, which is pretty whack. Normally AF Mint will kick in any shisha but there's just no flavour coming out of this? Here are some pics, I need help!Well there you go, that's pretty much it, the diffuser works like a champ, and before it's mentioned, the taste before and after adding the diffuser is the same.On another note, here's what I've got coming in soon! My family are abroad and purchased all of this, anyone have any idea what brand/flavours the stacked boxes on the left are? Thanks for any help! Scoop
afzal sucks imo.also, unless your hookah has hardcore tarnish inside the stem or hose port (which you obviously said it doesn't , since its clean) it should not have any impact on your flavor.the hookah is just a device that allows for the hookah smoking process to occur. the tobacco and heat management is where your flavor is at, the hookah cannot change that (again, unless extremely dirty). Arcane
trying backing down on the heat a little bit. also, adjust your packing method. it worked for me. took about 5-7 bowls, but i'm finally getting good flavor out of my sessions. not sure i'm getting the full flavor, but it's coming along. modisess
lucky you... km amer..... *drools*heh, but yeah, adjust you heat management, packing method, what tobacco brand are you smoking? al fakher?
Illmatic
Yeah I'm using Fakher. Does heat management vary between hookahs? I normally use 2 coconaras but I've run out and I'm using shitty quicklights. What would be the best way to pack the bowl and foil it?

mattarios2
hookah doesn't matter for heat management. it is the type of shisha you are using that makes a difference. Just add pieces of coal slowly, if smoke is thin keep adding, but do it slowly so the bowl has a chance to heat up. Once you find a good amount of smoke, stop. Or continue to slowly add unless it gets harsh, then take one off.
Illmatic
The cocos on my old shisha and bowl work perfectly. I'm even using the same bowl on the KM from my old shisha. Is there anything particular that would need to be done? ie. Cut the coconara in half or something and use each half? Or what's the best way to use quicklight? I'm upset I need taste! Illmatic
These are the bowls I have atm.Which one would be the best? And how should I pack it?! Then heat management? Gah
Illmatic
Sorry about the triple post but its starting to get to me!I'm slowly starting to give up, why can I not get any taste? I used half a quicklight and nothing? Added the other half and still nothing, just dead flavoured smoke. Can some hookahprochampiongenius give me some help? wgd9891
when ur poking holes in the foil try poking it all the way through the foil and shisha. also make some holes that go through the holes in the bowl. It should have flavour without doing this but just try this. Edited March 3, 2009 by wgd9891
Illmatic
Is that a problem? I normally only poke into the foil and not all the way through..
mattarios2
it may help but isn't the reason why you are getting NO flavoryou fully let the coals get red right?
Illmatic
Yeah but keep in mind I'm using Excelsior QL's.
mattarios2
did you ever use the cocos with the KM?if not then try that before thinking the hookah may be causing the issue, those coals aren't very well known, so I am assuming they are junk, they are ql anyways so they are going to impart taste on the smoke. Illmatic
Yeah I've used the coco's on the KM and it makes a bit of a difference but not much. These are the coals.

newjacksm
your best bet is to pick up some good brand new shisha (Nakhla, Romman, Layalina) , natural coals and a phunnel bowl if this doesnt help then it has to be user error some where. And make sure your hose isn't rusted to hell, or just plain dirty you might want to invest in a new hose. Illmatic
I usually use nara's which are the best I've used tbh, I've ordered a phunnel from Nazarhookah, but just waiting on delivery to the UK. Bah.Quick update, me and a few mates have been fiddling around and tried to make some apple bowls and it was still failing quite miserably. But I was reading around and I think I've found the solution, I think I had too much water in the whole time? How much does the level of water effect the flavour/harshness?We made one more apple head with an AF Grape/Mint mix, with less water. It's actually fantastic in the KM. Quite happy.
