just go to any el cheapo / overpriced smoke shop and get a new stem. They'll usually haggle and sell anything. If that fails contact a website that sells el-cheapo chinese hookahs and buy a stem piece. Someone should have one.

DO NOT USE PVC. Inhaling anything through it is highly toxic. Don't do it.

Make your own with a piece of stainless steel or upgrade to a new, better pipe.

wait seriously? i did not know this....well you could also go get a cheap piece of plastic hose like everyone is using to replace their hoses, and use that as the downstem.

I was wondering if i could use something else like vinyl tubing or something of equal size to take the place of the metal pipe that goes into the water. plz help!

Well, I'd think the first thing that should have come to mind would be a metal pipe. Go to your local hardware store in the plumbing section and find a suitable size of piping, get a short length cut off, bring it home and depending on your hookah just solder/glue/caulk it on there.

Just make sure you use a heat-resistant glue/caulk if that's the case, and you'll be fine.

But yes, for that part you shouldn't use anything plastic because the smoke passing through is still pretty hot at that point, and might potentially cause it to give off toxins. Most metals will be ok, just use your brain and don't get black iron/galvy pipe or something.

Nammor and Razan hoses do not use PVC piping. PVC is characterized by its durable yet brittle nature.

As for health, lets just say that California is working on a ban of PVC from consumer products.
