JDHarding
Kind of a silly question, but the grommits that came with my KM Ice were junk. Is there any better, possibly higher quality alternative grommits that'll fit the KM? Vase, bowl, and hose grommits.
newjacksm
why they junk?
JDHarding
I dunno.. they're cheapo. It's like they were sloppy making them. The hose grommit is made of plastic that's super stiff and isn't easy to get the hose into. The vase grommit is also stiff, and doesn't really fit the stem or the vase.Maybe I'm just being picky. chromecarz00
use hot water to get them looser, and leave them wet to get an inpenetrable seal.the hose grommet is too small, youll have to shave off part of the wood to get a perfect fit.

MechAnt
MYA Grommets are very high quality and seal amazingly well. They are made of silicone iirc
Codename067
Junk? Would you care to define that for me in terms of grommets? ...Egyptian hookahs are known for their extreme stem-to-vase seal.QUOTE (MechAnt @ Mar 5 2009, 09:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>MYA Grommets are very high quality and seal amazingly well. They are good while they last, but they wear out on you quick.Plus, you will NEVER be able to use MYA grommet on a KM..lol..it simply won't seal due to its much smaller size compared to KM grommets. Egyptian hookah grommets are at least twice if not triple the thickness of MYA grommets.

Egyptian hookah grommets are at least twice if not triple the thickness of MYA grommets.I use mostly Mya grommets with all of my KM/MZ hookahs and I've never had any problems with them sealing at all. And I'd say shelf life on a Mya grommet for the hose or bowl is about a year, and in any case I think grommets should prolly be replaced once a year anyways. MechAnt
I use MYA grommets on ALL my hookahs and I love them. They are silicone and they feel like good sealing material unlike the grommets that feel like plastic.
inino
as long as no air leaks out who cares how it seals or if it doesnt fit perfect. if you are that picky maybe you shouldnt be smoking a KM.
Codename067
I honestly don't know how you guys get those MYA grommets on your KMs. The damn opening of the KM/Egyptian vase is HUGE, I have tried using a MYA grommet before but it came no where close to sealing, and the damn thing almost ripped. My stem was wobbling on the vase.I have yet to replace any of my Egyptian grommets, and none of which gave me any problem. Too big? Sand the sucker down! They are very sturdy, and with a decent amount of care, they will last you several years.
newjacksm
Code I understand I bought the MYA Grommet for my KM its a slither of sillicon I knew right away it wasnt fitting into any vase.. Not even into my modern junior vase... if I wanted to make it fit I would need to get at least 20 of them and double over it....Dont bother getting that MYA grommet I bought it and it doesnt work. if you want a nicer fit just sand down the grommet... It takes a bit of effort to get the stem in and out of the vase.

I thought it was too thick at first, but the more I used it, the better it got, now it almost seems to thin, but whatever, it works either way. The hose grommet seems like cheap shit. I have to put a ton of force to get my hose to stay in all the way (tho the hose that came with it is hella wide ). The bowl grommet also looks like cheap shit and is too small for the stem and too thin for the bowl, still works decent though I guess.
JDHarding
I decided to try the grommets from my fake Mya pipe. Might be a Mya knockoff, but the grommets seem to be actual Myas. Silicone and all. Worked great on my KM.
Tuscani
I know my friends Km chiller requires a wider grommit than my haffa. Haven't had that issue with any other KM we have tried sharing grommits with.
