Hole Pattern Suggestion For Tangiers And Golden Jap Coals?

Recommended Posts

So far the best I figured out was large holes at 12-6-3-9 oclock small ones in a circle around the center of the phunnel and one small hole in between 12-6-3-9

Something like below Any more and it runs to hot. I keep the jap coals 2 squares stuck together(4 at once on opposite sides) at a time and keep it on the edge. When the 2 sticks are done, I light 2 more
and put them on the other sides opposite each other. Make sense?

Anyone have a better plan they use?

you need more holes and less coals IMO.

a lot of people use oyster forks (or normal forks) to make holes ALL over the bowl. But personally I either do three circles with a toothpick or a grid of holes all over.

The more (bigger) holes you have I found the less coals you need. So first it depends on the type of tangiers bowl you're using (size wise) and if it's OG or Chinese knock off crap.

4 honestly sounds like too much I would say try two possibly three and use a windcover when needed.

MS Paint. Use it! And Just poke 1 ring around the middle hole. One ring around the outside and then another ring in the middle. Make the holes about a milimeter in diameter. Once you do this pull through your hose to test the airflow. If it feels a bit constricted then poker about 6-8 more holes in between the other holes between the two outermost rings
