Made A Little Discovery...

Recommended Posts

Drinking hot liquids with my Tangiers increases my smoking tiime and pleasure by about 2 damn more hours, with no scratchy throat or irritation. I fired up some Red Tea and mint in a small phunnel last night around 5:00 pm, and was still happily writing my name in the clouds after 9:00! Damn.
I may have to start buying herbal teas to enhance my session. I want good coffee flavoured Tangiers. Can't wait to try Scalli's stuff soon.

Well that's cool but smoking for 4 hours straight, well, I don't know if the hot liquids really help much to ease up the impact of smoke on your throat.

I've never gotten an irritated throat from smoking, even for upwards of 3 hours. Is it just a Tangiers thing? Thanks for the tip though, if it ever happens I'll know what to do.

Drinking tea with argeleh is just a natural thing for me. Get your hands on some Arabic tea add a bit of mint to it and some sugar and you are set for life.

For me, cold drinks while smoking make me cough and whatnot. There just happened to be a couple good flicks on the tube to keep me occupied for this extended duration. Yeah, probably gives me a false sense of security on the condition of my throat, too. I just have a hard time staying interested in a full bowl of the stuff after about two hours, and I hate tossing the remainder away.

funny you say scratchy throat. i have been sick for 4 days now and i am beginning to think the culprit was smoking sb for 2 hours in a lounge. tangiers and nakhla are 2 brands that never seem to get me sick. anyways, tea will help for now...no hookah for me for now.

i can smoke tangiers for 4 hours no problem. like john ive never had any problems with scratchy throuats or getting sick.

this is because tangiers has a high enough nicotiene level to keep me satisfied as well as being very full bodied, i dont chain it. now when i slap some fussion or hookahfreak in the bowl i chain the hell out of it and sometimes get sick or have a scratcy throat.

Never had a sore throat except the times I was still learning my heat management and burned the hell out of my baccy, as long as I don't burn it (rarely now that I've got my system down) I never get a sore throat, even in long sessions. I wonder why some do and some don't?

well I am not particular on the brands...if you have any middle eastern stores around your area walk in and ask if they have Arabic mint tea. This is what I drink when I smoke. I did a little googling and apparently Touareg tea leaves are used and than mint and sugar are added in a unique way to get great flavorful tea. But you can find already made mixes in about any Arabic store. This tea is a very light tea with a good hint of mint and lots of sugar. You may be able to find the tea online if you can not find it locally

Edit: Did a little more googling and I found that basically you can use green tea, mint and sugar to get a similar taste. Edited by srawas89

That sounds like Moroccan mint tea... pretty much all I drink, but i replace the sugar with splenda.

Is it also robust with a heady bouquet and a delicate nose accented by spicy notes? laugh.gif

Sorry that line struck me as something a stereotypical wine snob would say.

On topic though, I get through irritation frequently, but I think that's a factor of coals and setup, so I'm working on that.

yeah i just asked the owner of the arabic store on the corner, he recommended buying gunpowder green tea and mixing in some mint. 2tsp tea+1/2tsp dry mint with for 3 cups of water works well for me.
only bad thing is that you pretty much have to sweeten it otherwise the flavour's just not the same... and i hate adding sugar (but i hate chemical sweeteners more ohmy.gif)
anyway gunpowder ftw
