Mndgame
I'm in the market for a new hookah as mine has had seal problems for the past couple months and they've become a pain to keep fixing and I got quite a bit of use out of it.Price range: No more than $120ish for the entire set up.Between me and a couple room mates the hookah will get used around 4-5 times a week sometimes only on weekends though. So I need something that will last. Also, using non-washable hoses it seems like we go through hoses every other month or faster so a washable hose is a must. Which brand of washable hose would everybody recommend? I bought a cheap one at a local store and its terrible, by far the most narrow hose I've ever hit out of its like sucking through a straw. Also, I was checking out mnhookah, and liked their blown glass bowls with the mod. Whats the advantage of the blown glass (besides the fact that they look awesome)? We've always had a pretty standard funnel bowl and have found that cleaning it out is a PITA as burnt sheesha on the center funnel piece is nearly impossible to get off. If I plan to get a glass screen does this limit my bowl options or do they fit all of the bowls?Lastly, it seems like everybody here loves Mya and KM hookahs so which would you recommend? Looks aren't really that important but it is nice to have a taller hookah so it is able to sit on the ground rather than be stuck at a table. Do smaller hookahs generally hit better or equal to larger ones? Also, I don't need a hookah with multi-hose capability if that helps. So I guess if I buy a glass bowl thats going to set me back about $50 and leaves $70-80 remaining for the Hookah itself. Also, I was planning to order online where is reliable/has good deals? I was looking around seems like mnhookah is pretty legit and active on the board or hookahjohn seems like it has some good deals. I'm located in MN if anybody knows an good stores around Minneapolis I could drop by (NOT hideaway, bad employees and policies).Sorry for the wall of text with a ton of questions, but I'm new to the board so give me a break haha thanks for the input guys and any suggestions are welcome. Bye bye now have fun
get a mya qt if you want, a nammor/razan hose and a small phunnel bowl. that will be about 70$ish plus shipping
modisess
if you're looking for a hookah that'll last long even with heavy use, check out the mya brand. i recommend the mya qt as GNU has stated. Review Thread for Mya QTAs for the hoses, razans, nammors and the new grand caravan hose are all great washable hoses. as for the glass bowls.... i think they retain heat much better, doesn't flavor ghost and that's about it i guess.... down sides to the glass bowls, is that they are very hard to clean.. it would be better for you to just get a small normal phunnel and save you the extra 35 bucks.hope that helps. i think mnh has all the things that i have suggested available. Mndgame
Thanks for the repsonses so I think I'll go with a nammor hose then. Is the QT better than the acrylic that is being group ordered for the forum? That seems like a pretty good deal and I was debating ordering that if I could still get in on it. Is the general consensus on glass bowls that they aren't worth it because they are a pain to clean? Am I still able to use a glass screen with a normal non-glass funnel bowl? Am I still able to use a glass screen with a normal non-glass funnel bowl? Both the QT and the forum buy acrylic will be pretty equal draw wise. If your concerned with friends knocking over the hookah and the base shattering then the Acrylic can't be beat. As for the glass bowls they can be a pain in the ass to clean, I mean at least the two MNH Jet Glass bowls I had were, and usually the glass screen is made specifically for the bowl it's going on especially with the glass bowls. They do make some glass screens that are made for use on the Tangier's small and medium phunnel bowls but other then that the screen and bowl are made for each other. You did however mention that a larger hookah was important to you, if that's the case then I would look into a nice Magdy Zidan hookah which shouldn't run you more then $60-$70, a nammor or razan hose to go with it, and then maybe a new small or medium phunnel. With all that and the forum discount(depending on where your shopping) you should be right at or under the $100 mark. For instance I would order the hookah from gothookahs such as this one.http://shop.gothookahs.com/product.sc?cate...p;productId=108And then pick up these from Hookahjohn as GNU mentioned.http://hookahjohn.com/product.sc?categoryI...mp;productId=46http://hookahjohn.com/product.sc?categoryI...mp;productId=
An1m
Do NOT get a Nammor or Razan, especially if you are actually planning to use the hoses. They fall apart like nothing else. Go with the Caravan Grand washable, even an Al Fakher Healthy hose. Nammors/Razans are not worth the dough, and aren't durable. And I'd reccomend going with a mya that can be upgraded to 4 hoses, if you're going to be smokking / sharing with 4 or 5 roommates regularly. Could get a little crowded on a 1 hose MZ, even though they smoke like champs. Edited March 8, 2009 by An1m
SuburbanSmoker
As far as hoses go i would have to disagree, the nammors ive been using for the last 6th months have held up fine. if you somehow end up going through hoses that fast just buy some regular myas.for bowls, medium phunnels are the way to goand finally for the hookah i would recommend the regular mya acrylic. you can mod it to be 1-4 hoses. its damn near indestructable and draws well, not to mention it will last for a longgg time. Fluffy
i would sugest going to hookahcompany getting a mya qt with grand hose and a small tangiers phunnel.
EternalSoil
Being that it's going to be smoked with friends I think a QT a not so great idea. They are just so small when you can get a KM or MZ for less than $20 more.If you want more than one hose, there are multi hose MZ's:MZ's at SocialSmokeI was gonna post some examples but SS is being slow as fuck for me.My Nammor hose has been just fine in the 2 or so years i have had it. only thing that happened was the grommet where the tip goes in came unglued due to hot water. I put it back in and it's just fine.
Mndgame
What do you guys think of the larger more expensive Mya's? Like the triangle/pyramid base one? I know they are pricey but I feel like if Mya's are really that nice it could be worth the extra money, especially if I can convince a couple of friends to pitch in. Why does everybody prefer the larger KM/KZ hookahs rather than the large Mya's? Just the price?
EternalSoil
I don't like MYA's (mine at least) because inside the stem it is rough brass that is a bitch to try to clean and it holds flavors after a while.

KM's quality has been going down the tubes lately, and KM is also trying to make multi-hose hookahs now. I haven't used one myself but I've heard bad things about the quality. KM's are prone to rusting, and take a great deal of care, Mya's are very low maintenance and if you're going to be sharing a hookah with 4 or 5 other people I wouldn't want to run the risk of them not taking as good care of it as I myself would.I have a Mya Paragon, with 4 hoses but I usually keep it set up as a 3 hoses, 2 of which are auto seals, with one purge valve. I'd say it's a very good investment for you and your roommates to make.
indian_villager
Get the MYA Acrylic from the group buy if you have the time to wait for it. If not go for a QT. A small phunnel, razan hose, and some quality natural coals. There is an issue with the razans falling apart if you are not easy with them. I have a hot glue gun and some creativity so with the remains of mine I made a thick heavy duty denim wrapped hose that looks like it could be used to beat someone to death and still hold up. I'd like to get it sometime in the next week or so, but I feel like orders like that take would take a month or so. Anybody know of a website that has either a razan or the grand hoses AND a medium phunnel with glass screens? I'd like to save on shipping but I can't find one. So I'm set on that on my bowl/hose. If the group buy is quick I might go for it otherwise I'm going to order something Wednesday/Thursday here if I can find a good deal on a bigger Mya or KM. I'll let you know what I go with and maybe post a picture of the full setup. What do you need to buy to convert the Mya's into multi-hose (..besides another hose)? They pull incredibly well, but even my two brand new Nammors from Hookah-shisha.com need some work (super glue and duct tape), and one of them has completely fallen apart (threading etc).I'll be purchasing a Grand whtaever hose next.Mya's are definately one of the more durable and well constructed brands out there. If your looking at a single hose, a KM or most Egypitan / Syrian hookah's are a good buy. Victim026
The Mya group buy will prolly take upwards of a month to recieve I'm sure. Grand Washable hoses are a great choice and MNhookah does carry those as well as medium phunnels and they are the only vendor for the glass screens. You will want to check on the screens though as they only had so many made and may or may not have some left in stock to sell. If they are out of stock you may end up waiting a bit til the glass blower they use does his next round which seems to happen once a month or so.
