sensae
So, I bought a Fez windcover cap and I've been using it with my small phunnel, and I thought I'd put out a word of warning. On the small phunnel, it sits so the only airflow hole is on the top, and all it takes is maybe 4 minutes of someone not taking a drag for smaller coals to get completely extinguished from lack of air. Even less time with smaller coals, which makes it very hard to use when you're trying to extend the life of those little guys. Anyone else having this problem? I think I'm going to take a drill to it and poke a few more holes.
indian_villager
Same thing happened to me you need to drill some holes at the level where the coals would be otherwise you are going to suffocate the coal. I noticed that it is copper or something on the inside....for the rest of the community should I be worried?

I no longer use it.. I would say use with caution.. Edited March 8, 2009 by newjacksm
mushrat
had a similar problem with a small standard type wind cover.
Codename067
Safety wise, I really couldn't tell.Solution wise: Get some holes in that sucker as IV mentioned. You must keep the air flow going. Coals with out enough oxygen will go black and eventually go off.
Sonthert
Try a coffee can, its cheaper.

sensae
I've got a power drill sitting around here - I'm actually running to a hardware shop right now to grab a clamp so I can get to perforating.
smoke eater
Hmmph. I just ordered one. Oh well, nothing a few holes can't fix. I really like the design of it though, slick.
