Sounds like every member is banned at one point or another (or several? lol) .... maybe it's like a right of passage smile.gif

I wonder when the mighty ban hammer will drop on me huh.gif

How can you accidentally reference a NHT substance after you read the rules? And after there is 1-3 bannings a day regarding NHT references? And when there is the phrase "NHT" to represent it all?

No offense to anyone in particular, but you would have to be a complete and under incompetent dumbass to get banned for that reason. There's tons of other ways to get banned that don't make you look like you should be in fundamental algebra. wink.gif

I agree, I am under incompetent and people "accidentally" do these things because they are accidents and occasionally they occur; people make mistakes. You know those right? Like perhaps typing under incompetent even though you have command over the English language and have been speaking and writing it for some time and meant to write something else. Accidents happen. Period. Maybe you don't make some accidents that some people do and vice versa; maybe I would never use poor grammar and maybe I did accidentally make an NHT reference once.

I dont think pointing out grammer mistakes is very nice. It doesnt make people sound more intelligent, and its not witty or funny. Grammer doesnt get you suspended, and slip ups on a keyboard do not draw negative attention to hookah smoking. That being said, the only important thing about making an NHT mistake is that you come back with no hard feelings and get on with things. wink.gif

Pointing out grammar mistakes is not very nice, and the same goes for most of the things that poster was saying. That said, i wasn't "pointing out grammar mistakes" and I certainly wasn't flaming for grammar, which is against the rules by the way. I was pointing out a mistake by a person who was going on and on about other people's mistakes. I thought it was very ironic and furthermore it proved my point: people make mistakes.

These are slip pus no a keybioard, What that poster wrote was a double negative. If you're going to write obnoxious things about people, don't expect kid gloves and compliments in return. As the old adage goes: if you can dish it out, then you should be able to take it.

Edit: Btw what I wrote was most definitely witty and funny. Not only did I take an intended criticism and turn it into a compliment, actually the poster did that for me, I also showed how easy it is to make a silly mistake especially when it comes to "rules" such as those that govern our language or this forum. you were "pointing out grammer mistakes", by questioning the intelligence of the poster and his knowledge of the English language.

I am finding your post to have an arrogant tone to it. Like you feel that you are all knowing of the English Language, and maybe that you get mad or frustrated when you see misspelled words.

All this being said, my main point was not to criticize you with my original post, my point was in the last sentence when i said "the only important thing about making an NHT mistake is that you come back with no hard feelings and get on with things. wink.gif "

I think getting rid of the term NHT has been tried many times, but its here for a reason, I mean if you dont like it and think you could make a logical argument that would persuade mush, by all means send him a PM or something.

This whole NHT argument keeps coming up again and again, and accidents happen, and I didnt know, I didnt read the rules, etc etc. It is really kind of old.

You can make a counter to this post, but I think this is my last one, i have cluttered this thread with useless rant enough lol. rolleyes.gif

Even though the operation of a NHT device and a Hookah are the same, it's in no way difficult to tell the two apart.

It's also in no way difficult to see that a site contains NHT devices before a link is posted.

If it is hard for one to connect NHT references with being banned, then maybe one should not be posting or chatting until said individual works on their obvious deficiency.

The item I posted was an eBay item. It looked like a hookah to me (until Mush explained why it wasn't) and the seller claimed it was made for a local hookah bar that didn't make it. I would post it so you would see what I am talking about, but I don't want to get banned again, plus I just don't care enough, not like this debate really has much worth in the first place.

Oh, and I do send Mush a message every time something is in question now. Edited by delSol_si

Maybe you have some sort of insecurity about intelligence as you keep bringing it up and I haven't brought it up once. My post had nothing to do with intelligence, in fact it was the antithesis of making a "you're intelligent argument." My ENTIRE point was that I assume the poster to BE INTELLIGENT and to HAVE A STRONG COMMAND of the English language and pointed out that if even with all of that going for him he could still make a syntactical error, why couldn't someone make an absent minded mistake even though they are similarly well versed with the forum's rules.

If you weren't on some sort of witch hunt to find people who "look down on people who make grammar errors and flame them" maybe you would have actually realized that. If I didn't think the poster knew that a double negative resulted in a positive and thus a compliment for myself instead of a diss, I'd've probably broken it down and explained it to him, patronizing him in the process. I never did that, as such was not my intent. My intent was to make the act of screwing up and looking foolish more relatable to the poster who found it unfathomable that someone could make a mistake after having the rules hammered into their head, much like we all have English rules hammered into our heads all our lives. I used an example that was readliy available, in the hopes that the poster would go "hmmmmm, wow I guess it really is possible to screw up."

I am never going to dumb myself down for anyone, and I will, as a general rule, never assume that people are not knowledgeable or are uninformed about the things of which I speak; to do so would be truly insulting. Most people here speak English perfectly well and yet we all make mistakes from time to time. I know that not everyone speaks English as a first language and I know that even those who do don't speak it perfectly, this does not get under my skin. I do not have anything to prove to anyone, and if there is any arrogance involved in this thread it comes from the poster who kept claiming "this is absurd" "that's idiotic" blah blah blah blah blah and you for assuming that you knew my motives for writing and asserting them as my own, even though you clearly didn't read my post very carefully.

I guess it's as simple as a parapraxis? Huh... scratch_one-s_head.gif . Got something on your unconscious mind there? rolleyes.gif

I am not saying that I imply that NHT smokers are not allowed here, that's just the general idea of "NHT" and the rules regarding "NHT", which is why violators always get banned; it's not welcome.

What I am saying is that it cannot possibly be that simple to make a mistake switching the common name for any NHT substance with the term that is basically force-fed you here (NHT).
