Get familiar with the hookahs, their construction, their bases. Look for the mya stamp on the tray, on the hoses and if it's a larger hookah then on the carrying case. Some of the smaller ones, like the Mya QTs, come with little wire-basket carrying cases. Of course you could just shop online form a trusted and reputable vendor and save yourself the hassle, albeit not the shipping costs.Hope this helps! Victim026
Yup, look for the mya stamp on the heart and on the tray. And if in doubt post a pic here and we can tell ya.
mitchard
As stated, buy it online if you can. It will probably be cheaper, even after the shipping.
indian_villager
Actually the local shops around me sell em for dirt cheap. A QT is $33. As far as telling if they are real. Just hold the stem. They should have some weight to them. Watch the construction. Watch the hoses as well. I think the newer ones have MYA stamped all over the hoses. ToncSTAR
the stem, the tray, the bowl, and sometimes the hose will have the "MYA" stamp on them. and the stems have a good weight to them. aka, they are heavier than they look. if im not mistaken all mya bowls are not glazed on the inside. (yes, i know my camera on my phone sucks)OOOHHHH!!!(yes, terrible, but i didnt want to get the D60 out for just this)HAHA! "MADE IN CHINA"Mya's have grommets more grommets than most (mine at least; Chic/QT stem) little one between the tray stand (the flat piece in pic above) and the bowl port. One slightly larger one between stem and downstem. and the base to stem one.Mya's are brass with chrome?nickel? plating. the downstem on mine is stainless steel. hose port and purge valve are same as stem and are removable. "MYA" is stamped (paint kind) on the stem, the downstem, and the business end of the hose on the metal ring; and stamped (like alters the metal) on the tray. bowl is deep and unglazed in the middle with 5 (1/8th inch sized) holes.
