social networking sites are evil. I saw on the news where someone was on twitter talking about how there house was getting robbed. thats right the guy was sitting there twittering while the robber was taking all his shit.

10 reasons I hate sites like that.

1. "friends" what part of just having someones picture on your website makes you friends? your not someones friend unless you actually talk to them in some form or another. I am not saying you can not have online friends I consider many ppl on these forums my friend, but we actually communicate here.

2. ppl you know can and do read these sites. If I go to the movies with a woman I like I sure as hell am not going home to call her a slut "behind her back" (I say behind her back in quotes because like I said everyone you know can read this stuff but it seems that in our culture its perfectly acceptable to bad mouth, degrade, belittle, and slander our "friends" as long as its on myspace or facebook.

3. 40 year old men reduced to talking like high school girls.

4. sixteen year old girls posting picks that most porn sites would consider gratuitous.

5. I dont care that your bf slept with your sisters best friends cousin. and I sure as hell dont want to read 12 different blog entries about it in the same day.

6. flash mobs wtf are these all about? why would anyone go gang up with a bunch of strangers to kick the ass of another stranger just because someone they dont even know asked them to.

7. 1 0n£¥ r34Ð 3n9£1$h, n07 r374rÐ

8. Like I am 13 year old girl any 13 or 14 year old girls want to be my friendz? if so send me a naked pickture of you and we can meet at like 3am in a deserted poorly lit parking lot. I drive a really cool van.

9. your boss has a myspace facebook and twitter account remember that next time you get "the shit detail" for no reson.

10. I hate your music keep it to yourself you can shake your laffy taffy all you want dosent mean I want to. Edited by Charley

lolwut?

Here's the way I see it. If you be a good person on these sites (i.e. not a complete idiot, keep private what is meant to be private) then they're fine. I use my twitter account for work-related discussions with people from all around the country (related to software we all use), my own personal amusement, finding out information about climbing sites (closed, open, conditions, etc.), and keeping track of my favorite sports teams while I'm at work.

TL;DR, some good comes out of the sites along with the bad. Just like smoking hookah

Twitter Worm

Posted: 17 Apr 2009 08:53 PM PDT

A cross-site scripting worm has been detected at Twitter by F-Secure. A message with a username called Mikeyy posts on the website. If a user views an already infected profile, his or her profile will be infected as well. The location, bio, website, and name information will be changed to Mikeyy and the infected users will start to post messages such as “Twitter, you should be paying me now. - mikeyy” and “@cnnbrk - he’s back. wink.gif - mikeyy”.

The blog entry at F-Secure include two screen shots of the messages. It also includes a list of messages that the worm uses.
