Decided To Give Km Another Try

Recommended Posts

This time, it's a win! biggrin.gif

Last time I was massively disappointed with the crap quality but I believe this to be a great quality one. Any opinions Eric? tongue.gif

The last Tri-metal that HC had and it's a massive win!

First stem I've ever handled that is heavier than my small little nour smile.gif

Smokes beautifully and is just gorgeous. I can't wait till I save up enough money to buy a Bohemian base for this sexy beast.

The bottom picture has the original valve cover, the upper pictures have a replacement valve cover in. Otherwise, great shank. I've sold a half dozen of them with no complaints. I use one in the lounge, too.

No, that's a completely different valve from the one I got. Mine is more mushroom shaped with a big head. Kind of like a Mya knock-off valve, but a lot heavier metal. Purges excellently, though, especially with the metal BB replaced with a plastic one. Doesn't require any forced blowing to get rid of the smoke 'cause it's so light.

I really gotta take pics of my hookah some day. :/

Is this the check valve from those pics?

If so, I gotta get me one of these for my KM Sig Ice.

Not quite. I got the better one (one on the right) from the other KM I had, just changed them up. The "worse" one still purges well but not quite at the level of the better one.

The reason for the difference is the metal of the shank components. The signature is comprised plated steel and rolled steel. thus it can be attached easily with soldering in a lower temp. Where as the tri-metal Brass and copper are much more dense and require brazing to attach the components. So you will see the difference on a lot of stems from the same manufacture, and they do contract out a lot of components. As for the check valve ports, they outsource the production of almost all of them and each shipment comes in different. I believe the one that look like MYA are probably outsourced to China.

Makes you wonder why they just don't manufacture hookahs, eh George? laugh.gif
