Brumonkey
Ok... I just joined the party! Got my hookah from SS today and could NOT wait for the weekend! Gave it a nice washdown and loaded her up. I decided to try AA's Orange. Wasnt too bad. I did use 3 Kings QLs =( but like i said... not too bad. So hears whats up! AA Orange. Pretty good session. Definately try with other coals. Soft and smooth feel. Smoke body was a little on the down side untill the 2nd coal, after that... MAN! The taste wasnt as great as i thought i should be. It had a soda/medicinal taste to it. Not bad, just not what i was thinking. Lil citrusy... of course, but it was more apparent in the smell than taste. the session lasted a good 2 hours. I may have slightly over packed. Aromatics was great watching the smoke billow in the gentle breeze (smoked outside). There was some weird taste... scent to it and for a split second it seemed to have come from the coals. Anyone have ideas or can break down the 3 kings QLs? Back to the point. AA Orange = good. gotta try again with different coals. _______________ I gotta get a cool Signature... HookahEnthusiast
hmm your session went for some a pretty good amount of time..so theres always the possibility of ash seeping in through ur foil/screen holes from ur coals and onto your ma'ssell..which can lead to some unwanted flavor.... Brumonkey
PAV- QLs is just my shorthand for quick lights... yeah guess im strange like that. HookahE- that is most likely the source. thanks for the tip... i am using a screen... the holes may be bigger than i realized... i did try to keep the coals as near as ash free as possible... may be i just disturbed it too much? _______________________ Watch
yashman19
I'm a big AA buff, but haven't tried their orange. But from what others have wrote about it, it is definately one of AA's flavors that lacks a bit of taste, similar to watermelon. But the only AA flavor I've tried that I didn't fully enjoy was their pina colada. Other than that, I love pretty much all of it.
Smashraj84
I know this might be a noob question but how exactly do you ash your King QLs?I just grab it with the tong when it's all gray on the outside and smack it on the ash tray a few times, then blow on it a few times to get it red again, and go back to puffing. I break mine into halves (I do one whole roll at time and put them in a baggie to allow quicker setup) and put them on the outside edges. There's not much to ashing, just don't let it ash so much that when you pull it off a lot of ash is left on the foil/screen and falls on the ma'assell.
