How Do Your Sessions To Last Longer.

Recommended Posts

My maximum session will last an hour if i'm lucky, but on average it only will last about 30 minutes. Im using really bad quick light coals, al waha shisha, a narrow but deep bowl. I usually sprinkle the shisha into the bowl then pack it down a bit and just put a random hole pattern in the foil with a toothpick. any tips or ideas to get my sessions to last longer?

Simply put, more tobacco, less coal will lengthen the time you get from a bowl. The amount of time a bowl will smoke is similar to the amount of time a car will run from gasoline in the tank. How do you get the car to drive longer? Put more gas in and drive it slower.

Are you breaking up the coals or putting a whole disk straight on? If you break up the coal and distribute it around the edges of the bowl you shoudl get a longer smoek because you aren't hot spotting the tobacco directly under the full disk.

I usually use two full discs and dont break them up and fill the shisha so its touching the foil. Ill try breaking the coals up when i get some better coals because these coals suck when you break them burn out way to fast.

I've noticed this to just be something you have to deal with. Obviously, a larger peice of charcoal will burn longer than a smaller one - just like a log will burn longer than a twig. But when you want lower heat, you just have to break up the coals and replace them more often. I only use this method when smoking Tangiers, though.

I would say your problem is probably with your tobacco. IMO, AW is lower quality than some of the other brands. Interestingly enough, SB also doesn't last that long in spite of its high price. I'd suggest packing a phunnel bowl with some AF. I always get ridiculously long sessions from AF, especially when I mix whatever flavor I'm smoking with mint. The mint flavor tends to linger even after some of the other flavors begin to die out. Give it a try!

I can make a bowl last for 1.5-2hrs on average. I use the traditional clay bowl, flat bottom (not very deep) and a standard med modern bowl. I' have a large tangiers bowl, but I don't use it much, yeah it helps last longer but I use a ton of tobacco.

Fill the bowl loosely but with lots of shisha, usually a little over the top. make sure there is good airflow when you punch holes, it should flow with no resistance.

I used square quick lites. they are really cheap, not very quick lite but heh? the larger the coals the they key is not the "expense" of the coals but how well they are lit. I don't use rounds, they tend to be too thin, by the time they are lit well you've burned too much and have to change them too often. You can use naturals but I find they are too attention demanding. As said earlier the more heat the faster they go.

I know how you all recommend the phunnel bowl and ive been considering buying one considering i need to buy a new hose also so i figured i would just get them both at the same time if i were to get it. How necessary is it though i just tried some new tobacco my friend had and had a decent hour long solo session probably could have thrown another coal on and kept it going for a while because not all the shisha was burnt but i have class sad.gif . I'm definitely going to be buying a new hose soon probably a nammor or razan but should i invest in a phunnel? im very picky about my smoke and i love blowing rings will the phunnel give me huge clouds?

A phunnel will make your sessions last longer, since your juice can't drain out the holes in the bottom.

pimpin your wares...love it!
seriously though, the phunnel is a product of genious.

Well, I don't want to be disagreeable, so, OK, I'm a genius.

i would say a razan/nammor with a small phunnel would be your best bet. are they 'required'? no, i've been smoking arguileh for about 4 years without using one; then i switched and my sessions lasted no less than 2 hours, and as long as the heat is consistent, the clouds are consistent. are they required to get decent or pretty good smoke, even great smoke? no, probably not, but they sure make the whole process much easier and more easy to replicate.

I get bigger clouds out of my small phunnel than my MYA bowl not to mention the pull is a lot easier. Add a razan hose to this mix and you get effortless smoking. Definately a good investment.
