i have never had a ghosting problem w/ my mya stuff ... but ... i dont know if its from the brass getting wet and then drying many times over the years, but it smells soo weird. Not like a mix of flavors but like a nasty metallic smell. Never could figure out why my mya's always smelt like that.

I haven't had any ghosting problems on my Myas. I've only had them since last August though. I've used a couple of them 3-4 times per week consistently. First, I ditched the crappy brushes they try to sell you to clean your hookahs and got some real, coarse tube brushes. They work much, much better but are harder to find. I got several from an automotive place a few years ago, and they do an excellent job getting the stems clean. I clean them after every session. I use baking soda and occasionally lemon juice followed by baking soda.

Have you guys tried plugging up your ghosted hookahs and filling with lemon juice or vinegar and letting it soak for several hours? Might be worth a shot. Vinegar is commonly used to remove the oxide from brass, so if it will remove the oxidation in a few hours, it should remove the ghosting as well. Edited by GreatPigHookah

The common chamber is a cheaper design and lacking tubes, the bell becomes a "wet" surface, so the vapors see the inside of the bell. The problem is, how do you clean out the bell? If you didn't clean out your pipe for a couple of weeks after smoking, whats going to happen? Icky! Some Myas (probably due in part to people like me bitching all the time) have switched to an open bell where there is no plate on the bottom of the bell, so you can look upwards and see the hose port and vent. These vent fine, but the surfaces are uneven and difficult to clean again. This is why I surmise that KM stopped making hookahs with the elongated bell plate (circa 2003-2006). Difficulty cleaning them. All of this should seem rather esoteric and I should add that since the volume of the bell to the vapor interface is relateively large the buildup in the bell is going to be slower than in the main tube...but its going to be an expoential problem being no particular problem for weeks or months and then bam! Its going to rear up and be obnoxious. In my way of thinking, its a worse design, lower quality, cheaper so it seems like cutting corners or half-assing. Thats why I shoot off about them, but other than those couple of items, they're not that bad, Myas, as a whole. Overpriced slightly, but they seem relatively solid. All in all, I'd give Myas 3 stars out of 5.

KMs on the other hand, are made quite well. Most of their stuff on the market has declined in quality, but overall its above average. 4 stars out of 5.

In a related story, in the bottom of the 6th inning, with 1 out, 2nd down with 2 yards to go, KM throws a long spiral down-field and sinks a two-pointer with the foul from Mya for a chance at a three point play, clearing the bases in the process. KM wins before the game can go into overtime.

I will have to try and soak it really good... maybe in a vat of something on slow boil for days...

Narguilezeiro, i am sure with a bit of imagination you could fashion something up. Think brass fittings, an airsoft pellet or ball bearing and a grommet.

IMO multihose Egyptians suck... scratch that multi hose hookahs suck... thats just me

I concur. Why everyone goes on and on about them...I don't know. Single hose hookahs always perform better than multi-hose hookahs.

Agreed..

It's just as easy to pass the hose.. you don't need a hose in your hand every minute you are smoking - it's okay to take breaks.

And then you bust into different heat management issues because instead of one set of lungs at a time, you are getting 2,3,4 sets of lung sucking power at one time - not good!

ist there any mod to turn any multi hose KM in autoseal?

Probably if you have tools and are very handy I wouldn't recommend risking your pipe

ive had my obelisk since june now, and i smoked it 3-4 times daily for several months. ive never had ghosting issues.

my pipe is perfectly smooth on the inside, my common chamber is very easy to clean (its an open style chamber, no bottom). it purges fine as a single hose unit, and if i need to purge while its set up as 4 hose i just remove someones hose.

i dont need different coal set ups when im using multiple hoses...and ive smoked with 10 people and 4 hoses...vs by myself. same bowl, same coals (med phunnel with 3 3kings).

my pipe is incredibly easy to clean, i dont worry about rust, and it looks bitchin.

Agreed on the egyptians, as everyone needs to cover the hose with their thumbs, as you then have a more likely chance of sucking wind from the adjacent hoses vs the smoke from the base / bowl.

Mya multi's are great, but you can't purge biggrin.gif and though my friends frequenlty setup their obelisks with four hoses, you just stop smoking after 20-30 minutes anyway because your constantly puffing.

Two hoses works for 6 ish people, 3 or more for a larger party, which is hard to manage anyway with physical space..you just need two hookah's for 10 or more people.

I have had some of my better smoking session on some cheap egyptian single hoser (from Jordan, friend brought it back from a trip) but the base broke and I didn't clean it enought to keep the stem from getting nasty. Now I've got a double Mya which I typically setup as a single w/ purge. Only if I get 4+ people do I put another hose on
