A Few Problems With My Hookah

hey all, first post

so im new to hookah and i got my self a cheap no name small hookah from a local store and got some chocolate, vanilla, and bannana shisha (not sure what brand they had them for 3 bucks a 50 pack with no box but they did have them in the box for 6 bucks) and some really cheap "magic Lite" coals that i had to light on the stove i think i did everything right but i got hardly any if any flavor at all i got a lot of coal flavor at times too ..i did get a good ammount of smoke though

so i said well i am going to buy another shisha..i know a friend that sells all soex products so i got orange and double apple and some soex intant light coals. the coals were much better, easy to light with my zippo and the ash stays on the coal but with the soex flavors i got hardly any flavor and sometimes the smoke would be really harsh .. but soex made super thick clouds of smoke but i want flavor is there anything i could be doing wrong? today i also ordered a box of 3 kings and 250g of Nahlka too see if ive just been smoking crap

also i got some really bad headaches after 2 of my smokes. thay lasted a really long time and i could feel my heartbeat on my head

witht the headaches: u are either A) not lighting the coals enough and are geting come CO poisoning or B ) u have too many coals on top. how many are you using?

for flavor- are u mixing up the shisha at all or jus scooping it out and smoking

how are u packing it?

how much water do u have in ur vase? is should be about n inch above the stem

there are so many factors to consider when smokin hookah
u will eventually get them all down

You probably didn't light your coals completely and/or your coals sucked. Make sure they ash all over before you start smoking them. Try to drink water when your smoking it can help with the headache.

ok i use 1 33mm soex coal on the top

i pack my bowl lightly so the shisha is flush or just under the rim

and yes i think my coal still had some black on it and thats why i got a headache

if the tobbaco is not wet.. just like the same all over do i still have to stir it up? im also working with 50g packs so theres not much to stir

SOEX is herbal shisha and the consensus is that it's the crappiest crap ever. Nahkla is okay but you can't get big clouds without adding glycerine. One thing Nahkla has going for it is lots of flavor, so you should be a lot happier with it. If you want big flavor and big clouds try Al Fahker, Starbuzz, Romman or Fantasia.

In order to get good flavor stir your tobacco before packing and then loosely pack it into the bowl and make holes all around it and perfect your heat management I mean by that figure out the perfect amount of heat for what you are smoking

I sometimes get headaches when the hookah is smokin' really good or when I mix it with bourbon or other liquors. I think a headache might be due to a dehydration of the sinus cavities in the head. That being said, if you use crummy coals, then craptacular results may follow.

about the head aches and feeling nausea, make sure you eat before smoking, which means usually have a meal and drink lots of water, trust me, I learnt my lesson bbaaaaaad the first or second time smoking without eating, then the next time I smoked, I had a great turkish dinner ate and drank heaps, then it was time to finish the night with a great big turkish smoke, smoked for about 40 mins - 1 hour, felt fine, not even a bit light headed.
