frost91
My friend is planning to open up a hookah bar in his basement because we live where there arent hookah bars for 20 miles. He plans to have four areas, and charge 12 dollar per hookah. What do you guys think? He has 4 hookahs, which i told him wasn't enough. He plans on using Nakala Shisha and charging 3 dollars extra for Al Fakher. He will be using small clay egyptian bowls that usually last an hour. He will be using natural coals as well. He doesn't have a place to light them though. He is opening it up only to friends and friends of friends. Any suggestions? Good or bad idea? Btw if this goes through, i will be the bouncer

HellCat
While your at it, build a diy poker table or blackjack table. That could keep people there longer and for you to make extra profit on the side. Oh and having an unlicensed casino is illegal So just take a percentage of the pot like 5% or something. Is that also illegal? Just asking

Scalliwag
Well, technically it is a business and zoning and all sorts of laws that apply to business come in. So he should be really careful how he does this. Something kinda like a party where everybody pitches in to the keg, etc. Still that would have to be carefully worded. No menus, etc. Anybody shows up uninvited don't let them in. Say it's a private party. Anytime you are circumventing anything there is risk. Tell everybody they can BYOB and ask for a $20 donation to cover some appetizers and shisha. If everybody knows each other or at least others there it could be done legally. At least when me and my buddies had keg parties years ago this is not a far stretch, you just have a lot of parties a week
frost91
thanks Scalli, well, hes going to only allow our "friends over and their friends" and they will be "chipping in" on the shisha fees. And we of course all "know" each other

And we of course all "know" each other That's cool then. He can deck that basement out with a bigscreen and sound system, lighting etc. like a hookah lounge, hire a belly dancer just like you can for any private party. As long as he makes it a place peeps like to come and everybody pulls their weight financially it would do well.I still like my idea of a hookah party bus. With that though you would have to have a limo license or whatever their called. But you could go anywhere and charge a premium.
HellCat
Yep, you guys just happen to be big party animals, and you just ask people to chip in for the party buget. Also, you just happen to have a party going every night I like the idea of a big screen tv, but I like the idea of a projector better
